17.01.2022 Today, August 9th, we celebrate the International Day of the Worlds Indigenous People. We acknowledge the Wadawurrung people, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Isl...anders across Australia, and all Indigenous people around the world. The official theme this year is COVID-19 and Indigenous peoples resilience. Our mob have demonstrated strength, leadership and resilience time and time again. Now, more than ever, the preservation and passing down of cultural practice and knowledge is so important. Here in Victoria, it can be a challenging time for our mob who cant get together, and cant get out on country to connect with the land. Through this pandemic we will continue to yarn and share stories, knowledge and participate in cultural practice with the help of new technologies. We celebrate the achievements and history of all First Nations people. Happy International Day of the Worlds Indigenous People! #AlwaysWasAlwaysWillBe #IndigenousPeoplesDay #KeepOurMobSafe

11.01.2022 At a time like this it's important to look after yourself. Walking and observing Country is good for the mind, body and spirit. Take the time to listen to the birds, watch what they are doing. By walking and deeply observing we strengthen your connection to the land and keep it in our minds eye. Country needs us, just as much as we need it.

10.01.2022 Tyrown Waigana, a Perth based artist and designer, has been named as this years winner of the prestigious National NAIDOC Poster Competition. His winning entry... - Shape of Land - was judged by the National NAIDOC Committee to have best illustrated the 2020 NAIDOC theme: Always Was Always Will Be. Waigana, a proud Noongar and Saibai Islander, has previously been named as one of WAs best new and emerging Indigenous artists. According to the 23-year-old, his winning entry depicts the Rainbow Serpent coming out of the Dreamtime to create this country and how we are strongly connected to it. The Rainbow Serpent is represented by the snake and it forms the shape of Australia, which symbolises how it created our lands. The colour from the Rainbow Serpent is reflected on to the figure to display our connection to the Rainbow Serpent, thus our connection to country. The overlapping colours on the outside is the Dreamtime. The figure inside the shape of Australia is a representation of Indigenous Australians showing that this country - since the dawn of time - always was, and always will be Aboriginal land, Mr Waigana added.
