19.01.2022 As stories emerge in the community from buyers, sellers, tenants and landlords about extreme hardships being inflicted on them through the prohibition of real e...state inspections, it becomes clear that the government has, again, got this very, very wrong. People are hurting and there are 1,000’s of reasons that they need to move. Divorce, downsizing, financial pressures, settlements looming and the list goes on and on and on. The Andrews Government is refusing to budge and it’s costing Victorians dearly. Mr Premier, is there no limit on the carnage you are willing to inflict on your fellow Victorians? Is there no consideration outside of your spreadsheets and numbers? Do you even realise what you have done to this city? Can you see the damage from your ivory tower? One on one inspections are safe and it is unreasonable to ban people from moving for 3 to possibly 4 months. We urgently call on the State Government to review and revise this horrendous decision, it’s time some semblance of sanity prevailed.

15.01.2022 Mr. Premier, I don’t think you understand. When people sell, buy, rent a property they are making some of the biggest financial decisions of their lives. Often ...these decisions are made from necessity. The financial impact of the coronavirus restrictions means that many ordinary Victorians need to sell their home to tide over these difficult times. There is no dispute that health and safety of the community is a priority and the roadmap out of the lockdown must ensure safety of all Victorians. However, the path proposed by the Andrews' Government jeopardises livelihoods and assets of hard-working Victorians who have abided by the rules and restrictions for over six months. Pushing families to the brink, financially and emotionally, is not the answer. The irreversible impact of these decisions on the mental and financial well-being of people is being ignored. People who have saved and invested in their property are unable to sell, buy or lease to tide over these difficult times. On the other hand, the extension of the moratorium on evictions without proportionate support for property owners and adequate checks and balances on the systems, is pushing ordinary Victorians to the verge of financial ruin. The real estate industry, on behalf of all impacted Victorians asks that you allow real estate transactions to resume in a safe and measured way.
