22.01.2022 Hi all, So recently the QLD Govt. and QLD Traffic & Main Roads introduced a new Step in their "Personalised Transport Horizon" plan. This new step is the introduction of annual Certificates of Inspection (COI) for ANY vehicle carrying out personalised transport services and what they are calling "Ride Booking" services in QLD, this includes Taxis, Limos and specifically Ride Share operators such as UBER. In addition to this "Ride Booking" operators must also transition t...o a "Booked Hire Service License" for EACH vehicle they intend to use for a Ride Share or Booked Hire service such as UBER. People have until 15 Jan 2018 to apply for this Booked Hire Service License. In addition to this QLD TMR have introduced the requirement that people who are intending to carry out services such as UBER must change the registration Purpose of Use (POU) of their vehicle to "Booked Hire" and change their CTP class to a newly created one called "Class 26". All this must be in place BEFORE you can apply for a "Booked Hire Service License" for that vehicle, remembering you also need an annual COI for EACH vehicle you intend to use for services such as UBER..... Why am I telling people this? Well because Im a nice bloke but also because Deanos Roadys has been authorised by QLD TMR to carry out these annual COIs as a mobile service for any vehicle up to 4.5 tonnes gross which includes Taxis, Limos and Light Vehicles intending to carry out services such as UBER. This means I can come to YOUR location be it at your home, work or anywhere else on the Gold Coast for a set fee as per QLD TMR regulations. 19.01.2022 Hi Everyone, Recently reforms by the QLD State Govt. due to be implemented later this year will affect those wishing to carry out Personalised Transport Services including Uber and Sheba in their personal vehicles. What does this mean?... From September 1, 2017 all current and future vehicles carrying out Personalised Transport Services will be required to have yearly inspections on their vehicles and be issued with a Certificate of Inspection (COI). This includes taxis, limousines, and private vehicles being used to provide booked hire services, such as those provided by Uber and Sheba. To provide these services, these vehicles will need to be registered with a purpose of use (POU) of : booked hire (BKHR) booked hire/rental (BKRN) taxi (TAXI) limousine (LIMO) or special purpose limousine (LSPL). After speaking to Transport and Main Roads today, I have been informed that what this means is that if you wanted to carry out a Personalised Transport Service to earn a bit of extra money you will be required to have an annual Certificate of Inspection (COI) on your personal vehicle, pay a special vehicle registration fee, have a special third party insurance and full comprehensive insurance on the vehicle. All of this is on top of your existing vehicle registration, CTP and any extra vehicle insurance you have. I will be applying for this new class of vehicle Certificate of Inspection (COI) and will be offering it in the near future to our clients.
