07.01.2022 Deans Marsh Festival Raffle Results Big thank you to everyone who donated to, and sold tickets for, the Deans Marsh community raffle. Given the Festival was cancelled this became our one fundraiser. We collected over $2700. After the announcement of the cancellation I posted on my Facebook page that we were still selling raffle tickets. Twenty generous people outside our community made deposits of between $10 - $100, for a total of $545 into my bank account. I am please t...hat two of them won prizes. Here are the winners: 1st: Countrywide Cottages Two midweek nights, pet friendly, value $430 - Caroline Danaher, Ocean Grove (Caroline is famous for being arrested in the office of Sarah Henderson in May last year when she refused to leave until she could get an appointment to discuss climate change with her Federal representative). 2nd: Pennyroyal Farm Cottages, Two nights, value $300 - Greg Rigby, Winchelsea (Greg printed our raffle tickets at a very fair price after our regular printer became ill). 3rd, 4th & 5th Prize: Six mixed bottles of local wines from Blakes Estate, Dinny Goonan Wines, Pondalowie Vineyards, value $180 - Deb McIntyre, Birregurra. Levi Marotta, Geelong West. Suzanne Germano, Deans Marsh (All appropriately thrilled. Levi's mother Kath Leeson bought his ticket so she is hoping he shares with her). 6th: Tree Adventure Yeodene Park, 2.5 hour family pass, value $172 - Stuart Fry, Bambra (be careful, you and Di aren't as young as you used to be!). 7th: Otway Harvest trail Hamper, value $120 - Georgina Debeaujea, Deans Marsh (Her neighbours who bought tickets and didn't win are hoping she shares the spoils!). 8th: Otway Greening Nursery, native plants, value $100 - Taya Flavel, Bambra (It was the prize the family wanted to win! The school holidays are now an opportunity for horticulture lessons). 9th: Fern and Gum Hamperr, value $85 - Robbie Briggs, Aireys Inlet (Just lost her job because of restaurant closures so very happy for a food parcel!). 10th: Tour of Frogwood Arboretum, 2 hours for a family and friends - Zoe Stewart, Leicester, England. (Zoe was coming home at Easter with Caitlin to celebrate their marriage, formalised in the UK last year, with Australian family and friends. They would have had to isolate for 14 of their 17 days here so it was cancelled. She will take her prize eventually we hope. She is on the 'front-line' as a Doctor in a public hospital). 03.01.2022 Dear Deans Marsh Festival Community and Supporters We have cancelled all the events of the Experience Our Hinterland weekend due to the increasing concerns regarding the Corona virus and the need to support our health services and the vulnerable people of our community. I want to thank the amazing festival team and the Cottage Management Committee for your support, leadership and care - no need for highlighting individuals - you know who you are and how much you are appreciat...ed. I would love you all to take a look at the Cottage website that features the Festival program and reflect upon what a fabulous program this community has developed and the depth of what we have to showcase and share - it is all reflective of Deans Marsh and District and our heart and soul - and we will be back next year!!! The Cottage will be closed for the next few weeks - but I am available by email and we will be open again as soon as we can! Please look after yourselves and each other and contact me if you need any assistance with shopping, picking up scripts or any other practical things. Big love Lisa and the Festival Team
