21.01.2022 2020 was a quiet year for this small business of mine but a good one. Quiet due to being pregnant for a large portion of it, a pandemic and then welcoming our gorgeous Macy into our world! But I just wanted to pop in here to say a big thank you for all the support throughout this wonderfully crazy year. Thank you to those who were understanding and gracious when it came to session delays and postponing, to those who shared in the joy of our new babe, those who encouraged me along the way and to the many new friendships formed. Cheers to another great year of challenges and growth, learning to love through different parameters, and treasuring our home and family more than ever before! Love you all!

20.01.2022 What are your weekend plans? We’ve got a family of sickies so you’ll find us in the wilderness on our hammock doing absolutely nothing this weekend If you’re sick and need rest why not do it in a more beautiful place than your bed I say!

19.01.2022 So I recently took a personality test which resulted in me being labelled a ‘mediator’. I felt the description was so familiar of the person I am. Although there were so many wonderful strengths one of the weaknesses spoke so strongly to me and that is this - mediators weaknesses can be that we are overly idealistic (wanting every aspect of our job, role, life to feel meaningful/perfect) which can easily lead to feeling disappointed, we are incredibly self critical, sensitive... and emotionally driven. Within my work especially I find this to be true. The amount of times I loathe anything and everything I create is frequent. As a creative, I find self criticism is a natural part of my thought process but not all these things are weaknesses, in fact I’d argue they are also some of my strengths. To feel deeply is an art and it helps me to feel empathy for others. Self criticism can be harsh but it also fuels my need for growth. I’m never satisfied, always wanting to capture emotion that is more tangible, more raw, more vulnerable. Being sensitive can also be a strength as it’s only through this lens that we are able to treat others with the same delicacy we hope to receive. And having an idealistic view on things isn’t necessarily a weakness either, it’s okay to set your standards high and work toward them so long as you also have the tools to navigate when those ideals aren’t met. Isn’t the mind a powerful space. We’re all different, fulfilling different needs collectively. One persons weakness is another’s strength. Understanding your nature and using it to its potential is a wonderful thing. Don’t try to change everything about yourself because the world labels it as weakness. Some things are there for a reason, your biggest obstacle is learning to embrace them and use them to their potential. All of this to say that this session reignited my love of photography. Every so often a session feels like more of a gift to me than the family and this was one of them. I love it in its entirety. @white_willow_photography and your precious babies, thank you!

14.01.2022 My favourite sessions are always those that involve an activity your family truly enjoys, whether that be exploring the outdoors, baking or crafting indoors, having a splash in the bath or in this case arranging some lovely flowers together. Photographing children is my favourite part and I don’t ever want to taint their experience by making it too structured because I think we all know kids work best when given the space and freedom to roam and be themselves. I’ve got two girls of my own so I know full well the more you push it the less they are interested. Giving them the room to explore through play is the best thing you can do. Posed and staged is not my thing but raw, real and free, well that truly makes my heart sing.

13.01.2022 Such a beautiful family So appreciative of those who welcome me into their homes in the first weeks of their child’s life, it’s a blessing to enter their space and spend some time with them doting over their newborn.

09.01.2022 37 weeks in a few days. So grateful for all my beautiful clients, I’ll be sad to be putting sessions on pause. I’m already oh so eager to get back to it. Prepare yourself for the baby and sibling spam because no doubt you’ll be seeing a fair bit of that over the next few months.
