23.01.2022 H E L L O S O P H I E This groovy gal joined our team a few months ago and amongst all the craziness I forgot to introduce her She's a fun spirit, makes us giggle alot, a fantastic worker and just a tip top gal. You'll mainly see her in the diner atm but we'll be slipping her into fashion every now and again too. So naturally I got her to test out her outfit selfies (swipe) and give us some fun facts about herself. We love having her as part of our DL fam! ... Here's... some fun facts about our girl Soph.. - I LOVE me a tattoo (or 5), if it didn't hurt so much I'd be covered in them - I am obsessed with my little family - me, my boyfriend Jacko & our cat and dog are the perfect recipe for happiness - My favourite thing in the world to do is sing and play piano (not that you would have ever heard me, I'm still working on my stage fright ) - My favourite food is NUTELLA. We've had to hide the current jar that's on the go in our house because the addiction is real - I volunteered for 2 weeks in rural Malaysia at a school for the disabled - best experience ever! - The first soulmate I ever realised I had was my mum - we are honestly the exact. same. person. (plus or minus 29 years) I've been lucky enough to have a few others walk into my life - I run my own small marketing business @littleriversocial & I am so so so blessed to work with some wonderful business owners around the region! - On that note, I am in my final year of my bachelors degree in Marketing! After taking a few semesters off along the way and swapping to part time, you could say I'm more than ready to graduate. - I also work at the chiropractor in Loxton and I love how it's taught me so much about health & wellbeing - This year I took my health into my own hands and switched the products in our home over to natural, no toxic products - best decision ever! - The way to my heart - CLOTHES & FOOD. It's no wonder I'm loving life at these two stores ... See more

22.01.2022 Matt and I have spent some time away this week.. for work and studying but we definitely made sure we fitted in some much needed R&R, beach walks with our furbabes, catching up with some special people and eating way too much delicious food (Im calling that research for our diner to make me feel better about eating our weight in food every single day ) A huge thanks to our gals for running the shops for us whilst we were away. Could not ask for a better team. Absolute su...perstars But were back and ready to tackle the last part of our renos. 20.01.2022 2020 Wow what a year! We adopted a third dog, bought a new car, Matt finished up at the mine plus grew a magnificent mullet, our coffee cart expanded into a diner & then that grew bigger than we expected meaning more renos as we moved our fashion to a bigger store, we worked our butts off & are now finishing the year with 4 businesses to our name- Dear Lyla, D'Lish Diner, Riverland Boat Hire, Renmark River Cruises, we moved house & towns, welcomed another handsome nephew & ...beautiful niece into our families, explored KI, gained new friendships & made lots of beautiful memories. We've stressed & cried a bit this year, but we've definitely smiled & laughed alot more. Who knows what 2021 will bring us, we've got a big list of life goals & we'll definitely be ticking some of those off, we'll keep working our butts off to keep growing our businesses but will hopefully learn how to have more balance in our life & make more us time, we're going to watch more sunrises, sunsets & soak up more sunshine, we're going to focus more on our health- both mentally & physically, we're going to say yes to more adventures & do more things to make us look at our phones less, we're going to make more beautiful memories & just enjoy this wonderful thing called life. We wouldn't be doing what we love on the daily if it wasn't for all you amazing souls that support & encourage us. Thanks for all the love, you are all absolute legends & we are just so appreciative of every single one of you. Thanks for cheering us on, for buying our goods, for making us happy dance, for the hugs, chats & laughs, just thanks for being you! To the DL fam.. you are superstars! 19.01.2022 I am blessed to be surrounded by a team of amazingly talented ladies ... Ellen & Emma, our Loxton shop gals, have created some blooming beautiful pieces for you all to purchase and enjoy. Ellen has made some floral wreaths and some dried flower art (shes just created an instagram page, go follow her @arnhembettiecollective) and Emma has planted some plants, using coconut bowls and recyclable coffee cups, for you to continue giving life to. 16.01.2022 WELCOME PAMELA Youve seen this gorgeous face on our socials already and now you will see her in our store. She had her first day with us on Friday & nailed it. Shes fun, quirky, creative, full of life and just a beautiful soul. We got her to share some fun facts about herself and this is what she had to say- I once laid down a rap with a Hip Hop Band in Athens in front of 200 people (dont ask me to do it again ) I once jeopardized an overseas Greek Study trip by fle...eing from the island of Crete with nothing but my passport, cash, 2 muesli bars & 2 pairs of undies to find the love of my life on the island of Evia. After 11 hours of boarding 2 buses, a taxi, a tiny dodgy makeshift airplane (passengers sat in the cockpit), a car full of strangers & another bus, I finally found him... now we are married! My favourite genres of music are definitely folk & rock I love pansies - I think they are my favourite flower Avatar the Last Airbender & The Legend of Korra are straight out my favourite things to watch for inspiration, wisdom, humour & life realisations I have a very inappropriate & sarcastic sense of humour. Thanks Mum & Dad I once had an axolotl called Rocky, he ate a rock & died. True story Being outdoors is where I lose myself to find myself I love nostalgic, adventure, quirky, biographical, cultural & 80s movies I am all about recycling, upcycling, reusing & second hand finds! Drinking tea + listening to vinyls is my fave way to tune out & re-balance. I am a kitchen witch. I love experimenting with healthy, seasonal & vibrant cooking I dream to learn handicrafts & mindful practices all over the world whilst listening to peoples stories: pottery, textiles, cheese making, herbalism, sustainable building techniques, cooking... a never ending list! I can't believe that tomorrow is already December, this year has just flown by, and for alot it has been a hard year, a stressful year, a year full of negatives. A year I'm sure many are keen to see the end of. But Christmas is near, A time for giving And we want to try help spread some cheer.... ... Every year for our Christmas window we like to create something different. We've had Christmas wonderland, our Manni-tree and last year we had our wreath tree. This year we've been so busy, we haven't had a chance to build the display we wanted to. So instead we've gone out and bought trees for each shop, filled up baskets with baubles and now WE NEED YOU TO HELP US SPREAD SOME CHRISTMAS CHEER! 07.01.2022 THANKYOU We are constantly blown away at the love & support you guys show us. Venturing out on a 46 degree day to give us the busiest day we've EVER had for our new digs grand opening. Luckily more stock is on its way because you legends cleared us out. If you couldn't visit, here's a few photos of what we smashed out in one week (I didn't have time to take any more sorry) We are exhausted, but have filled our new space with so much love, positivity & good vibes. 06.01.2022 H E L L O M A T T Youve seen this spunk around the shop and on our socials occasionally over the last 4 years since DL started. And today I am so excited to say youll be seeing him alot more. After nearly 9 years of him working away at the mine, he had his last day yesterday , and is now offically home to run his two businesses Riverland Boat Hire & Renmark River Cruises & hes officially on the roster now to help out here a few days a week. Hes a whiz in the kitchen,... great at making coffee and very honest when you need some fashion advice So of course he had to give us some fun facts about himself.. 1) My Mullet is my life! Kylie actually does love it too..it started as a bet but its turned into so much more! 2) You could say im an Aussie bogan.. im always up for a beer, a BBQ, a laugh & a good time. Get me drunk & Ill pretty much do anything you dare me to! 3) I love anything to do with Racing! I race Dirt Karts, Tinnys, Cars and watch as much as I can too! My veins have race fuel instead of blood. 4) I am becoming quite a foody/winey in my old age. We love to get out and experience all the quality food offerings available in SA! 5) I am a Triton man 6) I yesterday retired from mining after nearly 9 years to follow my new dream of Riverland Boat Hire and Renmark River Crusies and help Kylie at Dear Lyla! Its a very exciting and daunting step for us and Im so glad to take it when I have such a supportive wife! 7) We have the cutest doggies who live for walks, cuddles, drives and food! What more could a dog want? 8) We plan on doing a lap of Australia in our 1960s Caravan and Chev once the van is restored! We love to hear about random places we should stop over! 9) The Riverland has been my home my whole life! I love it here! 10) Im not into footy.. never got that bug growing up.. was too busy working on my car. 11) Really loving my Low n Slow American style BBQing these days! Meat is delicious! 12) KFC is my favourite cuisine ... So yes, Matt & I are total opposites but were an awesome team- always supporting, encouraging, motivating & inspiring each other and I am so excited for this next chapter of our lives. Because this question could start a conversation or maybe even save a life .. So I ask you ARE YOU OK? I am always here to listen so if anyone ever wants to talk my door is always open, never any judgement, just listening ears, a shoulder to lean on and arms ready for hugs.... .. We all have shit moments, shit days, shit weeks, shit months. Gosh I know I have. Ive suffered from depression in the past, Ive had breakdowns but eventually I asked for help & spoke about my troubles, & thank God I did because I needed the help. I am so lucky to still be here today and I can promise you that life gets better! Ive also lost loved ones due to suicide, and it fucking sucks!! There are ALWAYS people that will be there for you, caring, ready to listen & wanting to help. You are NEVER alone. .. Its ok not to be ok. 02.01.2022 RENMARK DL GRAND OPENING TOMORROW FROM 8AM We've smashed out ALOT in just one week to give our new location a whole new look and we can't wait to show you our new digs (if you had seen it before, you wont recognise it), a few extra changes will come after the opening but hey we did our best in one week to get what we did done, just extra surprises coming your way haha.
