12.01.2022 Just a word on "over doing it". With gyms and other exercise facilities closed, there are many folks wanting to get their exercise in other ways. Which is fabulous. However it needs to be done with caution and common sense. I can see lots of "challenges" out there. Burpee challenges, star jump challenges and of course people suddenly taking up running. All of these activities need to be done gradually if you have not embarked on them before. If you see a "100 burpees a day" c...hallenge or similar please do not do 100 burpees a day! Unless that is part of your usual exercise routine (if you're mad haha). Start with 5 for a few days, then increase your load by 10% at a time. If you have never run before, don't start with 10 or 20km. Start with 1 or 2 and increase gradually and ensure you are warming up and cooling down appropriately. There are lots on online programs to follow. Attached is a really nice PDF sheet with some good examples of how to get into your own exercise program. If you need any help please get in touch. 02.01.2022 Getting injured is never fun and for many people, it stops them from exercising. In fact, in a survey we conducted earlier this year, 45% of people said an inju...ry had stopped them from staying active. Just because you're recovering from an injury doesn't mean you can't exercise. In fact, appropriate exercises may help you during your recovery. 02.01.2022 Hi Folks. Well it's been a while since I posted on this page. I aim to bring you as much education and motivation especially at this weirdest and stressful of times. So stay tuned for things that will hopefully help to keep you (and me) motivated to move and stay active always, but especially during the Covid19 crisis. Below from exercise right Australia Is COVID-19 messing with your exercise routine? Here's 3 big reasons not to let your physical activity levels drop while y...ou're isolating yourself at home: 1. Mental Health - Being isolated might be taking a toll on your mental health. If you're feeling down, exercise is a great way to boost your mood and improve your mental health. 2. Immunity - Exercise helps to improve your immune function, can slow age-related immune system decline and helps to reduce inflammation in your body. 3. Stress & anxiety - These are challenging times. Many people are under increased financial pressure, daily routines have been thrown out the window and we're living through an event that is unprecedented in modern times. It's stressful! Exercise can help to manage this increased stress and anxiety. If you need some help staying active during this pandemic, we've got you covered. Head to our website and check out "Exercise Right at Home": it's a series of home workouts recorded by accredited exercise professionals to help keep you moving. #ExerciseRightatHome
