25.01.2022 Well done to Alyssa for kicking off the Student of the Week for the Pee Wee's group. She's certainly come back a lot more focused this year which is great to see.

24.01.2022 After the year that was 2020 it was great to end it with Peter de Been able to finally come back and visit. With near 40 on the Mats, including 11 Black Belts, it certainly was enjoyed. Congratulations to Luke and Greg on their promotions to Black Belt.

24.01.2022 Open Mat at de Been Jiu-Jitsu Ipswich Wednesday 30th December at 6pm.

24.01.2022 Congratulations Adam on being awarded your 2nd stripe this morning. Our morning class has grown that much that Coach Ben has taken on some of this responsibility.

23.01.2022 de Been Jiu-Jitsu Ipswich is proud to announce (finally some good non Covid related news) that we are hosting the SEQ Women's Only Open Mat on the 28th February at 10am. We welcome Women from all clubs in the area to come share some Jiu-Jitsu fun on our Mats

20.01.2022 Member Spotlight: Meet Lydia. Lydia has been training with us since the start of year, commencing training after her youngest daughter started. Recently Lydia injured her shoulder (it happens) in a training accident. Lydia was more upset at the thought of missing training than the injury itself, and ever since the injury has been at every class watching, taking notes, and more importantly keeping up that social connection. ... Injuries don't mean training should stop, just need to adjust those sails.

20.01.2022 We are very lucky to have such a talented and diverse group of Instructors here in Ipswich. https://debeenjiujitsuipswich.com.au/instructors/

18.01.2022 Good Morning. There has been an update on the directive of wearing masks during strenuous activity. Everyone 12 years and older must wear a mask when entering and walking around the club. *unless medically exempt. ... You are allowed to remove your mask whilst doing strenuous exercise such as doing rounds. You must keep your mask on in all other circumstances, including during technique, and anytime not on the Mats. Do not come to the club if you or someone in your household is sick, get tested and wait for a negative result before returning. Our current Covid plan remains in force. All attendances will be recorded and our current high hygiene practices remain in place. Here is the offical update: As per the Chief Health Officers Public Health Directive under Part 3: Face Masks; Section 33 q.) these directives do not apply if a person is engaged in strenuous physical exercise; or example exercise in or above the aerobic zone including high-intensity interval training, cycling, running. From this directive we advise to wear a face mask when entering a fitness facility and remove it if engaging in strenuous physical activity. Safety is always paramount. We lead. Other's follow.

17.01.2022 Congratulations to de Been Jiu-Jitsu Ipswich newest Brown Belt, Tom. Tom comes to us with a vast experience of Jiu-Jitsu and this Belt is thoroughly deserved. Also thank you to Luke and his crew for visiting us tonight. We love visitors!

Keep entertaining us on and off the Mats Oli

10.01.2022 Masked up and Covid compliant. We still trained, masks off during strenuous activity, learnt some cool Jiu-Jitsu and interacted socially. Don't focus on the negatives, work with the positives.

07.01.2022 I'm not one for public speaking and I won't try to start now. What a year 2020 has been! A moment in history. Merely a time stamp. For as most people feel, the New Year brings a new beginning. But for this year, even with the disruption it was, I am grateful. Grateful for the team that has come together on the Mats at Ipswich. Grateful for all the members, the new, and the ones that are no longer with us. Grateful for all the people that help run that room, from partners an...d friends, students always wanting to chip in and help, and of course the high quality coaching staff we have amassed. And I'm Grateful we get to do it all again. So from myself, Lisa and everyone at de Been Jiu-Jitsu Ipswich, please stay safe. Have a Merry Christmas with your friends and family, and don't forget to reach out to those who may be alone. Be Grateful. Be Loving. Be there in 2021. As always love and credit to @meerkatsu for the artwork.

04.01.2022 TRUTH BOMB BLACK BELT'S ARE NOT SPECIAL Grab a coffee, as this is worth the read You read that right, Black Belt's are not special. We did not come into this world full of skills, with peak endurance or incredible strength. We are not exempt from physical or mental illness. Family and Work pressures chip at us just like every other person. The same doubts, the same anxiety, the same clumsiness you all experience, we experience also. And we certainly aren't immune ...to over eating or having too many beverages on the weekend. This post has been coming for a while, 13 months in the making actually. Whilst the Covid Pandemic threw even more spanners into people's lifestyles, I decided to take action. For when Peter de Been awarded my Black Belt in December 2019, I was EMBARRASSED. I'll say it again, embarrassed. Embarrased for everything I felt I should be, for how I should look, the example I should be. So I took action and with the help of my partner, with the help of my students, peers and friends, and with the help of my Nutrition Coach @mattmiller_theprobod , I made the changes. ME. And I'm not done yet. Much like Jiu-Jitsu. For as they say "Don't get a Black Belt, BE a Black Belt. It's a never ending process, not a destination". Now for those who have made it to the end of this post, and not just clicked liked as you scrolled on by, I'll explain why I opened myself up. What was my opening sentence? I'M NOT SPECIAL! So this post is for all those people out there struggling. Struggling in life. Struggling at home. Struggling with your health. Feeling you are not good enough to get started or not knowing how or where. You are not the exception, but more like the norm. But with a strong community behind you, good culture to make those changes, and a will to succeed, it can be done. Just come in and step on those Mats. Jiu-Jitsu isn't the only answer, but I guarantee you it will be a very important cog in the process.

04.01.2022 They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old; Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.

04.01.2022 TRAINING UPDATE Training will resume Tuesday 12th January (19th January for Pee Wee's / Juniors). The following restrictions imposed by the Government will apply until the 22nd January. Masks MUST be worn at all times including members, spectators and Juniors aged 12 and above *unless medically exempt. ... No mask, no entry. Due to the size of our club there will be a limit of 50 people. As always attendances will be recorded and our hygiene practices will always remain the same. If you are unwell, stay at home and get tested before returning. As always. We lead, Other's follow.

03.01.2022 A few away from both the Pee Wee's and Juniors for the final class of the year. Enjoy your break kids and look forward to seeing you all back safely in 2021. We have LIMITED vacancies in both groups going into next year.

01.01.2022 Congratulations to both Agnes and Helena on being awarded their 2nd stripes tonight.
