19.01.2022 THE BENEFITS OF WEIGHT TRAINING . . What is the best way to feel healthier, look better and get fitter? Research is quite clear: the answer is WEIGHT TRAINING.... The more lean muscle you carry, the higher your resting energy expenditure is. Which means you burn more calories even when sitting down. You are stronger and move better which leads to less injuries and fatigue in everyday life. Don’t want to get too bulky? The risk of getting too bulky is non-existent. Women miss out on the advantage called testosterone; so even if you WANTED to build big muscles, you would have to slave away in the gym for ages before that happened (women produce testosterone too, but not nearly as much as men which is needed to build muscle). . . Putting on lean muscle is beneficial to your health and your metabolism. If we gain muscle, we won't gain fat. The trouble with the scales is we usually think we’ve lost or gained FAT, when really it is a lot more complex than that. Recognising fat loss is about seeing how your clothes fit, how you’re feeling and what your scale says over a longer period of time. . . Cardio is important for your overall health and cardiovascular fitness. But if you need to prioritise training and you want to lose weight, resistance weight training is the way to go. 18.01.2022 Hey fellow fitness lovers It is with sadness that I cancel next week's Circuit sessions for Tues/Wed and Saturday.... Firstly my Doc has asked me to take a break, so I can have more tests to see what is going on with my hip, and why the injection may not have worked feeling very disappointed I am pretty bummed, but for once I am listening to medical advice, as I need to be in good health to train you guys, and I don't feel like I can give my best atm Do some cross-training next week: swim ride walk run do a home 20-30 min body weight work out Use your roller and do some stretching Take time to relax as well, as we head towards the silly season!!! I hope to see you on Tues 1st and Wed 2nd Dec for our 6.10am sessions, and as long as we train early, we should miss the set up of the Family Fun Day being planned by Izba in Quinn Park on Sat 6th Dec.
