22.01.2022 Two years ago on Black Swan Lagoon beach, I was stepping up into the next phase of my arts practice in the lead up to heading to Europe for my Churchill Fellowship. Many thanks go to Joe Shemesh for his cinematography skills and dedication to this ongoing project. This short film by Joe Shemesh of my Arts Residency on the N.E Peninsula of Recherche Bay, Far South Tasmania, 2018. This 5 min film recently won the Silver award in the Nature section of the Cinematographers Soci...ety of Australia. This is the very landscape from which the French D'Entrecasteaux expedition mad important first scientific collections and documentation in 1792/3. I am adding to my herbarium collections, pressing plants, creating mono-prints and immersing in this wild and stunningly beautiful cultural landscape which is a touchstone to the early first contact and historical record of Australia. Also thank you to Jason and Fiona Whitehead, for the invitation if an Arts Residency on the NE Peninsula of Recherche Bay, which they look after for a gentle footprint and creative outcomes. Link to my Churchill a Fellowship report here with the film ‘Fabric of Botany’ embedded in it. See more
