11.01.2022 I'd like to send a big 'thank you' to The School of Stitched Textiles in the UK for inviting me to be featured in their 'Inspiring Artists' series. You can read the interview here https://www.sofst.org/deborah-wirsu-thread-sketching-in-ac/

10.01.2022 Hello thread sketching friends, This year, I have to admit, hasn't turned out the way any of us expected. It's easy to find plenty of negativesyou know what they arebut rather than focus on all that, I thought I'd try to see what I found good about 2020. If the extensive lockdowns hadn’t forced me to stop, slow down, and take stock, there are many wonderful things I would have missed out on. Looking back over the year, the time to slow down and reflect has been wonderful. I... loved helping all my new thread sketching students work through their class projects. I loved teaching my music students online. I've read dozens of books and learned many, many new things. I’ve loved being able to spend some quiet time with my son. The absence of live music left a massive hole in my heart, which I filled with other creative (thread sketching) activitiesthree new courses and a new book. I've learned about what really matters in life and what doesn't. I've even learned to cut my own hair, so I'll be saving myself money in the future! I know there have been times when I've been quiet with you, when my communication was perhaps not as frequent as it could have been. For the times I've been quiet, I apologize. For your patience and understanding, I am grateful. I'm always here for my studentsregardless of how I may be feeling. I know many of you have had much more challenging times to endure this year. Nevertheless, in a year such as we've had, I hope you understand my need to just 'be' sometimes. I wish everyone a happy Christmas or holiday period (regardless of how you choose to celebrate). Know that it’s OK to feel sad or lonely if you’re unable to spend Christmas with family. Know that they still care about you. For those of you in lockdown, I'll be thinking of you. 2020 has presented challengeson so many levelsso please stay home, stay safe, and we will face whatever 2021 togetherunited, creative, and calmwhatever the next year chooses to throw at us. Merry Christmas!
