25.01.2022 Cooking days still require a great deal of clean up. Loved Miss 4's thoughtfulness that her parents may come downstairs and slip on the wet floor - she's very interested in writing at the moment.

21.01.2022 Driving home today after visiting my sister with Miss 4 the conversation turned to age. Miss 4: "How old are you Deb?" Me: 44 Miss 4: "I'm only one 4 - how come you have two fours?"... Me: I've been alive longer than you have Miss 4: "How long have you been alive?" Me: 44 years Miss 4: The same as your number!! Me: Yes your age counts how many years you've been alive. You've been alive for 4 years. Car journey continues as Miss 4 repeats softly to herself....4 years! 4 years...

20.01.2022 It's not every day that you see a koala in a tree at Sydney Park Yes she is up high! And that's to be celebrated! Did I think oh gosh what if she falls? Yes I certainly did. However what I said was "do you think that branch is thick enough to hold you?" 20.01.2022 When life is just getting a bit too busy and overwhelming- it's wonderful to have little notes like this delivered to the kitchen while you're cooking dinner (It was even delivered by paper airplane!)

14.01.2022 Children never cease to amaze me. Miss 4 brings her painting to show me and I ask carefully "tell me about all these lines?" Miss 4 replies "it's a very fast roundabout"

13.01.2022 Whilst I've been busy developing Bush Balance as a second job....I have still been enjoying nannying and particularly seeing Miss 4 growing every day. Some balance practice this morning

13.01.2022 A stunning day at the zoo! It truly is Miss almost 4's happy place. We saw the lions and fennex Fox for the first time today. And baby ducks!! (Elephants too but compared to baby ducks). There was lots of space, not crowded and they've really improved their entry system and social distancing.

11.01.2022 A big game of Bluey memory! Miss 4 is very keen on card games at the moment. At one stage she decided to sniff all the cards to find the matches When she very confidently chose a card to make a pair I exclaimed "you remembered where that one was!" Miss 4 looks surprised and then says "that's why this game is called memory Deb - because you remember where the pictures are!"

05.01.2022 A slightly different use of the famous Jaws music today at the pool with Miss 4.5. "Deb, pretend I'm your baby shark but you've lost me and then you hear duuuuun dun, duuuun dun, duuuuun dun and you turn around and you find me?" Unlike Jaws - it was a very happy reunion

04.01.2022 Bush Balance starts this week!

03.01.2022 This page has been a little quieter lately... I've started a new business - Bush Balance. My aim is to give inner city kids time and space in small pockets of bush so they can explore and connect with nature. I'm still nannying though part time this year. 02.01.2022 Oh to be 4 again! As we walk to school pick up we find rubbish on the footpath again. As I'm about to start grumbling about this Miss 4 grabs this piece of blue plastic and says "I've found a kite Deb!" So we skip, run and sing our way to school ( let's go fly a kite...) all because of a piece of rubbish

02.01.2022 It's not always possible to stay in touch with my nanny kids as they get older. It's so lovely that the now 9.5 year old B (!!) and Miss 4 live in the same street. Even more heartwarming is that both are still willing to walk to the duckpond with me - where I took both of them as babies and toddlers.

02.01.2022 Yesterday's Prince and Princess performance - complete with a socially distanced audience At the end of the performance dancers were able to come into the audience for selfies. I did question whether this was covid safe and I was told it was okay just one person at a time for photos
