12.01.2022 Hi, all you lovely dog owners. Thought id share a bit of info I came across recently, hope it helps Here's how long it's okay to leave your dog at home. Hate l...eaving your dog home alone? We do too! But sometimes leaving your pooch is unavoidable. And it can be hard to know how long your dog can go without, well...relieving themselves. If you have to be away for six hours, will your pup be okay? We talked to some experts in dog behaviour, and here's what they say about how long is too long to leave your dog at home. (Of course, these are just general rules: your dog's needs may be different!) 1. Puppies However many months old your puppy is, that's how long they can go without peeing. So if they're three months old, they'll need to go about once every three hours. This rule holds true until your puppy reaches six months. 2. Adult dogs Healthy adult dogs should be able to last six to eight hours before needing to go. But if you're regularly gone for eight hours, you may want to hire a dog walker: frequently holding it this long can give your pup a urinary tract infection 3. Older dogs If your beloved pooch is getting up there in years, they may need to relieve themselves more frequently. Pay attention to how often your dog needs to go out when you're at home. It may vary between two and six hours. You know best what your dog needs at this stage!
