24.01.2022 With a beautiful early wet season this year it is good to know our wet weather policy Light drizzle - we keep the movie going and enjoy nature's air conditioning Short heavy rain - we pause the movie and open the kiosk, everyone comes under cover and has a cup of tea. (Top tip - take your cushion under cover with you so it doesn't get soggy...) When the rain stops we go outside and watch the end of the movie.... Prolonged heavy rain - if we look at the radar and see that it will rain for more than 15 minutes then we cancel the screening, everyone gets the choice of a refund or a ticket for another night. Luckily we haven't had to cancel a screening in years - an afternoon storm usually turns into a nice cool evening at the Deckchair :)
24.01.2022 We've had a lot of requests for David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet tickets - the two Deckchair Cinema sessions are sold out BUT it is screening at Event Cinemas and they still have some tickets left - https://www.eventcinemas.com.au//David-Attenborough-A-Life
24.01.2022 It was so great to host Jacob Nayinggul and Wityana Marika for the NT Premiere of High Ground last month. Jack Thompson couldn't make it this time, but we have fond memories of his visit to Deckchair Cinema a couple of years ago. High Ground is screening at all cinemas but if you want to catch it at Flix this Sunday - you better get a ticket quick - it's going to sell out!

17.01.2022 We're looking to team up with other businesses in the CBD during Flix in the Wet. If you run a business in the city and can offer a discount or deal to Flix customers we'll put a slide with the offer on the big screen before the movies and across our channels. There will be over 3,000 customers across the season, coming into town for movies on Sunday afternoons at 3pm and 5pm between January and March. It could be a lunch or dinner offer, or maybe just something to encourage ...customers to meet for a glass of wine before the film Send us a message or contact us on 09 8941 4377 or [email protected]

10.01.2022 The Flix in the Wet program is back from the printers! you can get your copy 'hot off the press' outside the cinema today. Otherwise you can pick one up from all good cafés and shops tomorrow :) Flix is being held in partnership with Darwin Entertainment Centre this year. This is a sneaky double announcement - the woodchip has gone and eco-friendly artificial grass made from sugar cane waste has taken it's place! (I'll post more about it's green credentials on our website). The wood chip was a trip hazard and we've been looking for an alternative for a long time. Good work NT Shade! 06.01.2022 The final extra screening is..... The Climb - screening for one night only on Saturday 21st November. Kyle and Mike are best friends who share a close bond - until Mike sleeps with Kyle's fiancée. The Climb is about a tumultuous but enduring relationship between two men across many years of laughter, heartbreak and rage. It is also the story of real-life best friends who turn their profound connection into a rich, humane and frequently uproarious film about the boundaries (or... lack thereof) in all close friendships. Rotten Tomatoes' critics consensus : "The Climb uses the complicated bond between two friends to dissect male friendships in engaging -- and frequently funny -- fashion." - 93% Fresh Review from The Guardian : "I laughed hysterically during the first scene of The Climb, Michael Angelo Covino’s brilliantly original indie bromance. The setting is France, where two Americans best friends since childhood are on a cycling holiday. Mike (played by Covino) is head-to-toe in Lycra, obnoxiously spouting cycling terminology. His out-of-shape friend Kyle (co-writer Kyle Marvin), is trailing behind, puffing and panting. Mike waits for the start of a particularly tough climb to confess he’s been sleeping with Kyle’s fiancee. Kyle: You’re like a real-life Judas! Mike: On the plus side, that makes you Jesus. At one point, Kyle gets off his bike and carries it, running up the hill in pursuit of Mike. Tragedy and slapstick run through the film and it is very funny." Bookings - www.deckchaircinema.com
