25.01.2022 A classic NZ deck advert that everyone is keen to tell me about. A nice bit of tongue in cheek for a Saturday afternoon. If you think "seen one deck you've seen then all", then I'm here to tell you that not all decks are the same, especially in Australia. We use hardwood because of our harsh climate and white ant problem so best to ask for professional advice before you start building a new deck or restoring an old one.... For the best advice for your deck, call a Deckwerx specialist on 1300 053 353 today and we'll get you sorted in no time. #intergrain #dulux #deck #deckwerx https://youtu.be/i6c4Nupnup0
25.01.2022 Before during and after deck restoration for a lovely NZ couple who are renovating a very rundown gem in Cornubia. I love working with timber and bringing life back into this once living material. My customers find it odd that I apply the stain with bare feet...it's how I feel connected to the earth. This couple were stoked with the results and the character that we've put back into the timber and into the property as a whole. They said it was quiet beautiful and unexpected....... so was their feedback. #deckwerx #lovewhatwedo #happyclientsareclientsforlife
25.01.2022 This week our team undertook restoration of 5 decks in Toogoolawah in 3 days of 40 degrees. Not only were we conscious of our Deckie's health but also the decks they work on. Our amazing clients also provided air conditioned space for our team to chill during the heat of the day. Extreme heat does not work well with stains and oils - manufacturer recommendations specify products are not to be applied in extreme temperatures.... Early morning and late afternoon are prime working hours with the middle of the day off limits! Great work team!
25.01.2022 Its raining its pouring so this weekend might be a great time to do something a little more creative. When its raining theres no staining! Bring some colour to your world!
24.01.2022 Another challenging job - blending the old deck with the new extended deck, under railings is always a challenge and not to mention painting the new railings to match the old. Well done Deckies Stephen and Matt!
22.01.2022 An interesting article from our friends at Deck-Max about the various ways timber is dried!!
22.01.2022 Summer is upon us with 31 degrees in Brisvegas today. Weathering timber is a time consuming proposition when we're experiencing drought conditions. Thanks to our Partners at Intergrain, weathering new and sanded decks is made easy with Powerprep.
22.01.2022 Well today is a first for the Deckwerx team!! We are prepping a deck on a container pool! The Team at Hotondo Homes at Ipswich have asked us to stop the pool water turning black. The tannins from the merbau timber are leaching out and ending up in the pool making it look very unattractive. Thanks to the professional products from Intergrain, we'll accelerate the weathering process and remove those pesky tannins. Then we'll prepare the surface ready for the natural stain t...o adhere and protect the gorgeous colour of the deck for the new owners. Remember, all exterior timber deteriorates over a short period of time. Liken it to having your car serviced. We recommend inspection and treatment every six months. Call us today on 1300 053 353 to discuss your deck and outdoor timber features.
21.01.2022 It's raining cats and dogs today. Not a good day to rejuvenate a deck but a good day for measuring and quoting. I thought I'd share a couple of views from decks we're working on. Life's a deck!... If you have a deck in need of some TLC call us today and let us take the stress out of it!! 1300 053 353
19.01.2022 This weeks transformation was a pool deck in an inner city high density living development with over 350 residential units. A composite decking product was specified and after 3 years it had lost its colour, was stained and scratched, had plenty of black scuff marks where the outdoor furniture was moved around the deck and was starting look shabby. When this occurs owners often look at replacing the entire surface because they feel the composite decking product is inferior.... This is not the case, like all decking products, natural or manufactured; they must the maintained with the right products and techniques. For this deck, we cleaned the entire deck with the specially formulated product - Protect-a-deck which removed the scuff marks, dirt and grime that had built up and contributed to the faded look of the surface. Once fully cleaned we applied a special acrylic coating with a non slip product to help swimmers when they exit the pool. Composite decking is a fantastic product if cared for correctly. It requires regular cleaning with a specialist cleaner and we recommend sealing in high use areas. Refer to our website Deckwerx.com.au for more information on caring for composite decking. 18.01.2022 Another work of art from our mates at Decked Out GC! Quality all the way!
18.01.2022 Today's clients wish to preserve the aged look to their timber decking around their home. The timber is merbau which is normally a brown/red colour with loads of tannins. The techniques and specialist products we use can achieve varying looks to satisfy our client's needs.... We provide specialist advice so our clients get the best outcome. #deckwerx #renovationinformation
16.01.2022 It’s great to see timber fencing is making a comeback after the steel fencing trend of the early 2000s. The problem is, hardly anyone is protecting or enhancing this valuable asset which invariably adds or detracts to the value and appearance of modern homes. At Deckwerx we feel the humble fence is often overlooked and taken a bit for granted. We’re on a mission to put the spotlight on what we think can be the shining star when buying or selling a home. ... By applying a coat of oil once a year, keeping the natural colour of timber fencing and screening is affordable and will save money in the long run. Oiling a fence keeps the timber hydrated and protects against the elements and enhances the overall colour scheme of a home. Feel free to ask us for a recommendation or even better - ask for a quote! #deckwerx #screens #oils #savings #protection #timber #fences #dontneglectthefence
16.01.2022 Two days inner western suburbs bringing back a deck that had only been sanded and recoated 2 years ago. The previous company left old stain on the deck surface that traditional floor sanders may not be able to remove which means that the new stain doesnt have anything to adhere to. Deckwerx is proud to announce that we now have 2 specialist deck sanding machines in our crew so no job is too large or too small for our team!
16.01.2022 A huge deck this week in the western suburbs of Brisbane for a lovely family. We talked them into matching the vertical timber in the seating area to match their pool shed. Painted surfaces last 5 times longer than surface that have wood care products on them. We are very pleased with the results. Its a pity our clients had planned a large 50th birthday celebration which will now take place next year. We are so grateful to have been of service to them at this time.... #sikkens #deck #inspiration #pool #brisbane See more

11.01.2022 A rare photo of this dynamic duo after sanding and removing cracked and old stain. Clients went from the red look of DWD to the warm tones of Cetol Deck 078 in Natural to enhance the beauty and character of the 18 year old timber with Stephen Hoffmann and Delena Brophy Farmer
10.01.2022 Yesterday I celebrated Australia Day by finishing a deck before the sun really hit the deck. Heat plays a big factor in when we can apply stain. Before and after shots from Burleigh Heads yesterday. A new deck treated with about 6 months of weathering. Its important to make sure as much of the tannin is removed before staining. ... Our team used Intergrains Powerprep to remove the remaining tannins, prepared the timber (brightened) for stain using Reviva and then two coats of Chocolate Ultradeck. 06.01.2022 We’re not sure if this cool customer likes what we’ve done on the deck or not! I can’t read his expression very well!! I hope his humans love what we’ve done to their 5 decks!! #pug #life #deck #sikkens #sanding #business
05.01.2022 First coat of stain down today on this pool deck. Staining can be a difficult process depending on the weather. As the mercury was rising this morning, it was important to get rhe stain down as quickly as possible. Combined with the threat of a thunder storm this afternoon, we got the job done. Tomorrow's temperature at 35 degrees means we'll be at it very early in the day!... #intergrain #merbau #deckrestoration #deckwerx
05.01.2022 Nothing like a deck overhaul to match a newly painted house. Our clients were considering doing it themselves and then thought better of it. The Sikkens Cetol Deck 078 in natural helps to merge the inside timber with the outside entertainment area #sikkens #deck #brisbane #manlyqld #homeimprovement #inspiration
04.01.2022 Many of our clients are surprised at the deterioration of timber that sits on ground or in some cases, in ground. When timber is in contact with organic material the timber tries to draw the moisture out and as a consequence, with long term exposure, the timber rots and deteriorates - a bit like rust in metal! We can replace those boards that have rotted easy peasy and bring the entire space back to life. ... Board replacement is a cost effective alternative than replacement of the entire structure providing the structural members are sound. If you have nails or boards that are popping, it may mean something more serious is going on below deck. But sometimes its could just be one or two rouge boards on the top that have gone a bit skew wiff! Give us a call and we can check it all out and give you our take on things! 02.01.2022 This week we were called to provide advice on what whether or not this deck can be restored or should it be replaced. The deck was built about 8 years ago and the stain was put on the same day as the deck was completed and the coats were all out on quickly by the builder. The home owner said the high quality stain was applied and looked amazing at the time but basically washed off after a few months!!! ... Needless to say they were very disappointed and they werent convinced we could bring the existing deck back to life. Two other deck companies advised that it should be replaced and they should start again!! We were shocked that this would be their recommendation to solve the customers problem. If the timber was rotten, then replacing the decking timber may be needed, however, the timber on this deck is well and truly weathered and prime for restoration. A quick test sand with our unique brush sander and an application of Oxalic acid revealed beautiful timber worth restoring - definitely not needing replacement. Can you imagine the cost to replace this deck!?!! We know it would cost in the 10s of thousands of dollars to pull up the existing deck whereas our restoration services cost a fraction of replacement cost. Not to mention the waste of beautiful functional timber. Dont forget new decks need to be prepared correctly, otherwise the same thing is likely to happen all over again. We are waiting for the go ahead from the client to bring this beauty back to her former glory and be worthy of the million dollar address (and canal outlook). If youre curious, ask us for a more detailed comparison based on your individual circumstances. Better still if you need us to do a test patch to show you what we can do, then contact us today to book us in!

01.01.2022 To remove the existing DWD coating, we used a combination of our amazing brush sander as well as Intergrain stripper on the vertical surfaces to sure as much of the old coating was removed. Three coats of Ultradeck Spotted Gum and the entrance to the house once again makes a statement. #deck #intergrain #deckseal #cabots
