22.01.2022 Sold: Repost $45 Just Above the Mantlepiece. Great book In excellent as new condition more pics. P&P from nsw 2257 From the Net ‘ Just above the mantelpiece’ is a big, beautiful book which celebrates the mass-produced art that began to decorate thousands of homes on both sides of the Atlantic from the late 1950s. Once derided by the art world, artists such as Vladimir Tretchikoff, creator of The Green Lady, and Margaret Keane, whose portraits launched the Big Eye movemen...t, are today emerging from anonymity to be reassessed as pop art geniuses. Wayne Hemingway, one of Britain's leading street fashion designers, explains his long-held fascination with the genre in a concise, witty text that runs alongside over 300 gems from his own collection. He sketches the lives of the leading artists and reviews their new-found acclaim in the world of fashion, fine art and photography today.’ #tretchikoff #margaretkeaneart #margaretkeane #jhlynch #loushabney #clemente #justabovethemantlepiece See more

17.01.2022 Sold: This authentic hand made Lea Stein Fairy brooch has been stored carefully as part of my collection of vintage jewellery for several years. I will be selling several more signed quality pieces over the coming weeks. Handmade in Paris this very collectable Fairy Brooch is one of Lea Stein’s classic models. It is in a beautiful colour way of red and green with the rarer large single gold glitter wings. ‘Lea Stein Paris’ is heat mounted rather than riveted onto the back wi...th a V backed pin and a rolling hasp fitting. A very pretty collectors piece. In excellent vintage condition with no discolouration and appears never worn. Lea Stein's brooches always sit beautifully and the lightness of the plastics ensure they are suitable for lighter fabrics like linen but they are equally at home on the lapel of a heavy winter coat. Material: Cellulose acetate Circa: Approx early 2000s Size 8.7cm x 3cm Lea Stein began designing her iconic jewellery from the early 1960’s, pioneering a unique method of working with celluloid & plastics. Together with her husband, Fernand Steinberger who was a chemist at the time, Stein developed a technique of layering and laminating extremely thin sheets of celluloid acetate. The multi-dimensional pieces were then baked for long periods, cooled and cut into shapes - a painstaking process that could take up to six months to complete. Stein has continued to work this way over the decades, creating original hand-crafted pieces - of which no two are ever exactly alike - recognisable by their extraordinary designs, colours, textures and patterns.

Weiss excelled at floral and figural brooches and earringsthe company also made numerous styles of bracelets and necklaces. Weiss ceased operations altogether in 1971, business was good enough in the 1950s and ’60s that the company had to contract with Hollycraft to fill its orders. Weiss is perhaps best known for its use of smoky rhinestones. The company was also one of the first to use Swarovski’s polychromatic aurora borealis crystals, which were created with Dior in the 1950s. 09.01.2022 Repost from @kylie.1972 d’Arenberg Cube is a five-storey building situated within the d'Arenberg vineyards in the locality of McLaren Vale in South Australia. The design concept for the building was developed by d'Arenberg's Chief Winemaker, Chester Osborn, who is of the fourth generation of the Osborn family, who established the vineyards in 1912. Completed in 2017, the building is noted for its distinctive geometric design, largely resembling a Rubik's Cube, with its facades predominantly consisting of double-tempered glass. 08.01.2022 She’s a stunner! Retro Bradley Doll with a lovely face on a plastic stand. She is in excellent vintage condition for age (Approx 1970’s) Stands 53cm tall, great legs, has a lace underskirt, carries an umberella and has her original tag saying Tamara Made in Korea. $35 more pics P&P from nsw 2257 #bradleydoll #bigeyedoll #clothdoll #retrodoll #vintage #retro People call these dolls by many different names including Boudoir dolls, Stockinette dolls, cloth dolls, Southe...rn Belle dolls, Victorian dolls, Living Dolls and big-eyed dolls. The diversity of names begins to make sense when you discover that Bradley manfactured these dolls from 1954 until 1984 when the company was bought by Hasbro who, it would appear, discontinued the line. I have not been able to ascertain whether Bradley was a division of Milton-Bradley, the famous toy and game maker, but it could be. The fact that these dolls were manufactured for 30 years is noteworthy. Source: dollkind.com See more
