18.01.2022 Today, we are issuing a wakeup call to Australia. The type 2 diabetes epidemic is overwhelming Australias hospitals. Well be releasing figures from a new stud...y that found that people with the condition accounted for around one-third of all hospitalisations. The study at Austin Health, a major tertiary health service in Melbournes north-east, found that 34% of patients had diabetes (mostly type 2 diabetes). Surprisingly, 5% of these people had silent, undiagnosed type 2 diabetes that was only detected after they were admitted to hospital. Diabetes Australia CEO Professor Greg Johnson believes Australia has to act now to improve early detection of all types of diabetes and reduce the very high rate of diabetes-related admissions to Australias hospitals. Diabetes will cripple our health system unless we take urgent, comprehensive action and thats why we are saying Its About Time people get checked for type 2 diabetes early, and Its About Time our health system got serious about reducing the high rate of hospital admissions for diabetes, Professor Johnson said. 17.01.2022 Dont you love studies that justify and confirm your coffee habit? The pooled relative risk (RR) was 0.71 (95% confidence interval [CI], 0.670.76) for the highest category of coffee consumption (median consumption, 5 cups/d) vs the lowest category (median consumption, 0 cups/d). 08.01.2022 So should you eat 3 meals per day, or 6 smaller snacks? Is it better to eat a bigger breakfast or bigger dinner? Research presented at the recent ENDO 18 Conference studied this question. When the 2 groups were compared (having the same calories), a high energy breakfast, average lunch and smaller dinner, compared to 6 smaller meals over the day resulted in more weight loss, and improved glucose control as well as less hunger. https://www.endocrine.org//high-energy-breakfast-promotes-
