22.01.2022 Today is one of the most important days in our calendar, today is ‘R U OK?’ Day and World Suicide Prevention Day. This day is important this year more than ever, it is a day for us to reflect on a year that has been mentally taxing and tiring on all of us. This is a time that has shown how important it is for us to help, support and care for each other. Even asking someone a simple question such as ‘are you ok?’ could make a world of difference. It might allow them to open th...eir heart and know that they are always loved, thought of, and supported. Mental health awareness is of course not a once in a year topic, it is present in our lives and lives of those around us every single day. But I urge you to start today, check on your family, your friend, your colleague, your neighbour, your student or even someone who you haven’t spoken to in years. Start today with an ‘r u ok?’

07.01.2022 2020 has an extraordinary and challenging year. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought economies come to a grinding halt and countries close their borders. No one has felt the impact of this more than migrants, hopeful migrants and international students, who feel unsupported and stranded. While Migrants continue to make substantial contributions to Australia’s economic prosperity, national wellbeing, and social cohesion, the COVID-19 pandemic is having a significant influence on ...the shape of Australia’s migration Program. Prime Minister, Scott Morrison, estimated annual migration of 34,000 in the year ahead a far-cry from pre-coronavirus estimates of around 270,000. PM Scott Morrison announced that the government is expecting ‘quite significant falls’ in migration, a 30 percent decrease in net migration this financial year from the 2018/19 totals, and an 85 percent decrease over the next financial year. However, there is a silver lining. Australian states and territories are gradually reopening their skilled visa nomination and business after suspending them for months due to the pandemic. The Department of Home Affairs has allocated limited interim nomination places to states and territories, paving way for the opening of the skilled visa programs ahead of the complete allocations to be delivered as part of the Federal Budget announcement on October 6. As the economy starts to slowly open back up, so are opportunities. What is most important in such unprecedent times is that we are there for one another. Before we are Migrants, Students or Workers, we are Human. We are one global community who must help and support each other. We at Deen & Associates take this pledge to help you. We are here for you, whether you want to move to Australia to study, work or live, whether you are already living, studying or working in Australia, or even if you just need advice, we are here to help and support you. We want to know that you are ok, and if you are not, we want to get you to the place where you are ok. Feel free to contact us at anytime with any enquiries or assistance you may need.
