25.01.2022 My Dad by Deacon Jude It was last Christmas at my visit home to Myanmar when Dad and I were together, but I Skype him every Sunday. Playing soccer in the backyard, riding my bicycle and going to the cinema were my fond childhood memories with him. Growing up I enjoyed reading newspapers with him and looking at old photo albums while listening to his narration, and we still do them each time I go home. Dad took his role as bread-winner seriously and I look at to him for saf...ety and security. Happy Fathers Day to all the Dads out there. Why not add your reflection about your dad to this post?

21.01.2022 Origins of Christmas and Advent When the Roman Empire was gradually becoming Christian, it was a standard strategy of the church to take already existing feasts and Christianise them. The date of 25 December was chosen because there was already a Roman midwinter feast celebrating the darkest time of the year, that is the time of least sunlight. Just as is the case with our winter solstice in June. The Roman feast was a celebration of the returning sun. Visit the Parish Blog to read the full article at www.cbdparish.org.au/news/blog/

17.01.2022 Prayer of the Week The Latin word Advent means coming; to look forward to the coming of Christ; a season focused on waiting. Something new is coming, the dawn of a new and better era. God broke into time and space and entered our world. Through prayer, we enter into God's presence and ask the way to prepare our hearts to receive the gift of His Son. Use Advent to cut away distractions and make your life a place of warmth and openness. Make room at the inn of your heart.

14.01.2022 From the Parish House Waiting is part of life. The expectation which accompanies waiting gives us hope of what is to come. There is something particularly symbolic about the opening of our churches coinciding with the beginning of Advent, the season of waiting and expecting, the season of the already but not yet, the season par excellence of what is to come.
