25.01.2022 Transition to secondary school, Online Program from Inner Spark Complementary Health Services

24.01.2022 Have you registered yet for the Yoga of Stillness |Self-Care Program? In this program we will be taking a deeper look into the many details that make up our day, from waking in the morning to preparing to go to sleep at night and all of the many movements that take place in between. Why is Self-Care so important? ... The current trend today is toward choices, movements, patterns and behaviors that negate our ability to truly connect with self, life and with all others from a place of empowerment, so that we feel adept to deal with what we are being called to throughout the day and all of the many aspects life throws at us. The program involves 6 online sessions of the Yoga of Stillness over a 6 week period, including 3 emails per week and 1 weekly self reflective activity, starting November 9th. The program is for everyone but specifically aimed or focused towards parents, healthcare workers and carers, to maximize on your relationships in these ‘roles’. Can’t wait to roll out this first program, with future dates set for 2021. To book your place: https://bit.ly/2InLUbI #SelfCare #Care #Maximise #Empowerment #Settlement #DetailsofLife

24.01.2022 The moment we lower our personal standard of quality we allow it from everyone around us, hence abuse starts first with how we treat ourselves.

23.01.2022 It is a very old saying to describe pregnancy as a woman being ‘in a delicate way’ or ‘in a delicate condition’. Although the phrases are old fashioned, the call to move in more of a delicate way, is prominent in pregnancy. Pregnancy is a time of change, adjustment, expansion and re-negotiating life in a new way, and is also an opportunity for lasting change (not just for the 9 months), to make different choices and make them for yourself as a woman, and for the support of y...our expanding family. Does the old fashioned saying ‘in a delicate way’ resonate with you in your current or past pregnancy? #Pregnancy #WomensHealth #Delicate

21.01.2022 I love this blog by Cynthia Hickman, Psychologist - it’s difficult for most to stop and take the time to go through cupboards and homes and discard what isn’t needed anymore. What is even more challenging is discarding the ‘within’ things that don’t work anymore - but worth the challenge and some great tips offered here.

19.01.2022 This is NOT your average postnatal exercise program. Your babes can be 6 weeks, 6 years, 15, 50 or anywhere in-between. This series of classes is designed for... ALL mothers & mothers to be - to support you to develop (or deepen) a solid, calm steadiness in your body that will support you to maintain your connection with you, when so much is pulling you outward. Why movement? We literally move ALL day. By connecting to our bodies and dropping into our own flow while we move/exercise, we develop a connection to our bodies and self that we can apply to how we move everywhere. So when the going gets tough - you can come back to those markers/foundations as a support to steady yourself... you win & your child/ren win. Classes are low impact & suitable for all fitness levels... &, of course, full of my trademark sass & flair (aka you’ll get a lovely lil full body workout). More details to come

13.01.2022 There is a lot of talk in and around birthing about the topic of advocating for yourself or of having someone to advocate for you. Sometimes the true purpose of advocating can become lost in reactions and attachments to outcomes that often come from outer pictures/ideas/beliefs of how we think things should be and not from checking with what feels true from within. Sometimes too the art and purpose of advocating for yourself can become lost in a focus on a pinpointed aspect o...f birth, rather than seeing the bigger picture of how important this skill and ability is to develop as a way of life. To advocate for yourself or another is to respond and not to react, to respond to a situation that is in front of you with clarity, steadiness and awareness - a development process. The purpose of developing the art of expression, communication and learning to be empowered and emboldened to advocate for yourself in your maternity care and birth is bigger than just that one aspect or focus. In having a baby you have in your care, a precious being (just like all of us) who requires you to advocate for them. That could be after birth, it could be within your home, your extended family, or with your friends and community. It could be advocating for them at day care, or at pre-school, or once they start primary or secondary school. The purpose of advocating is to hold, nurture, nourish the essence of the person you are advocating for, be that for yourself or for your child. One aspect of advocating is defined as, a person who puts forward a case on someone else’s behalf. This can be applied to both the self and to another, because to put a case on someone’s behalf it’s important to really know and understand that person. That may be getting to know and understand yourself more deeply, what supports you what settles you, what inspires you, it may also be getting to know and understand your child, to understand their unique needs and nuances and how they require support to sustain that through their childhood and into life. What is advocating to you? #Advocating #Communication #Relationships #Pregnancy #TakingReactionOutOfEmpowerment

10.01.2022 Rock your life, in your expression. We are all so different and our unique qualities, are ours to rock, move, express, claim and appreciate. Like me I am an interesting mix of sensitivity, shyness and forthright absoluteness & expressiveness (and much more) - we can’t be put in a box. ... I was thinking this morning about all of the different women I have had the honour to be present with for their births, some women labour and birth quietly, some loudly, some both. I have supported women in a total state of surrender to their bodies and letting their bodies take over in a quiet inward way and others who have danced gangsta style until they have to stop and give birth. There is no one way but there is a way that is true for you, so rock it, claim the space and let everyone know. Claim your qualities and all of the different feelings that are there to express moment to moment. How did you rock your labour and birth? #RockIt #Life #Birth #WomensHealth #SassIt #SassyBirthingWoman #BeYou #Spunk Image @natdebono

05.01.2022 Life, pregnancy and the preparation for pregnancy are an unfoldment. 03.01.2022 It is Birth Trauma Awareness Week. Birth Trauma can be physical trauma, from perineal tears, pelvic floor muscle damage, pelvic organ prolapse, pelvic fractures (pelvic bone, coccyx, sacrum), from c-section wounds, or from post-partum haemorrhage, or infections resulting from birth. It can also be psychological trauma and women can experience severe emotional distress where there is no physical trauma. Trauma can result when expectations of what might happen do not go to pla...n but trauma can also be triggered from unexpected situations. Trauma can continue after birth and can also surface if it feels unresolved for the woman in a future pregnancy or birth so it’s important to talk about how you are feeling with those you feel safe to talk about this with and seek professional support. Psychological trauma after birth can present as postnatal depression or anxiety, post-partum PTSD, obsessive compulsive disorder. We are amazing, and deeply sensitive as women and pregnancy and birth can reawaken our sensitivity and awareness. We are also all uniquely different as women and respond to life and situations differently from each other. We can’t compare experiences or our responses to them. How we experience life can come from experiences from the past, our sensitivity, our awareness of what feels right for us (and what doesn’t) and sometimes we can’t understand how we will respond to something until we meet that moment. There doesn’t need to be a reason to justify where there is trauma following birth, if it is there, it is there. It’s important to honour the feelings and seek support. Birth Trauma can also be seen as a positive in that it offers an opportunity to deeply heal and to set a new way forward in life with new standards and markers. Giving yourself lots of love, care and nurturing is important and asking for the support you need. #BirthTraumaAwareness #PTSD #Trauma #Sensitivity #SensitivityIsAStrength
