21.01.2022 Saliva is important in keeping your mouth hydrated and clearing it of food debris and acid. It helps maintain a healthy environment in your mouth. When produced in insufficient amounts, the lack of saliva can cause numerous problems. One of which is dry mouth syndrome, or xerostomia. In this condition, the salivary glands don’t produce enough saliva to moisten your mouth.... Patients with dry mouth syndrome are prone to serious dental problems such as bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease. To learn more about dry mouth syndrome, keep reading. 12.01.2022 Once again, as August comes upon us, it’s time for Australia to celebrate Australia’s Dental Health Week, a week sponsored by the Australian Dental Association. Each year, Dental Health Week chooses a dental topic and attempts to bring it into the public light. This year’s topic has to do with how to keep up on your good oral hygiene habits, coming with the theme of, How’s Your Oral Health Tracking?... Keeping track of how often you brush and floss and making sure you have regular visits to our office, are key aspects of keeping your smile strong, healthy, attractive, and effective. But, for some groups, staying on track with dental health may be more difficult. These groups include the young, young adults, the retired, and particularly the elderly. 03.01.2022 Dental check-ups allow your dentist to help you keep your mouth healthy and discover if you have any dental problems. Patients are advised to visit the dentist every six months, depending on the health of your teeth and gums. At your visit to your dentist, you will have an in-depth examination of your mouth, neck, and face, a professional cleaning, and a discussion about your dental health.... 01.01.2022 Oral hygiene is the practice of keeping one’s mouth healthy by brushing the teeth and cleaning between them regularly. It is important that oral hygiene is practised regularly to prevent dental disease, gum problems, and bad breath. General guidelines suggest brushing two times a day: after breakfast and before going to bed, but ideally, the mouth should be cleaned 30 minutes after every meal.... Getting the food particles out from between the teeth is as important as brushing your teeth. A toothbrush cannot reach the areas between the teeth and only removes about 50% of plaque from the surface of your teeth. The tools needed to clean between the teeth include floss, flossettes, and interdental brushes. To learn more go to: https://deerparkdentalsurgery.com.au/oral-hygiene-deer-park/
