25.01.2022 BOURKE'S NEW ABATTOIR OPENS Bourke's General Manager says the region's abattoir is open and aims to have 100 people employed by the end of the month. The local... council says the abattoir started processing goats on January 2 and currently has 60 employed workers on site. There have been major delays to the project's construction and in November contractors claimed they were owed hundreds of thousands of dollars by the developer. General Manager Ross Earl says half of the abattoir's current workforce are locals. "They are looking to increase the number of employees by up to another 40 in the next few weeks. At the moment they're just waiting for some of these people to have medicals, they'll be employed in a whole raft of jobs," Mr Earl said. "The idea is they've brought in specialist staff who will be training the local staff to make sure they are brought up to speed and multi-skilled." Bourke, New South Wales, Australia

14.01.2022 NSW Firearm Owners IMPORTANT - If you are thinking about going hunting I urge you to think VERY carefully first. Be aware that if you are apprehended by NSW Pol...ice and found to be in breach of the Public Health Order you could very well lose your firearms licence and be prevented from being issued a licence in the future. Remember, the NSW Commissioner of Police has no discretion under section 11(3)(a) of the Firearms Act 1996 and MUST NOT issue a licence if he considers an applicant not to be a 'fit and proper' person or is 'a danger to the public'. The Commissioner could well decide if you have breached the Public Health Order that you are not a 'fit and proper person' and that you could well be 'a danger to the public' in the future. He would then have no option but to refuse your licence application!

13.01.2022 *** You spoke, we listened! *** From Monday 4 February 2019, NSW R-Licence hunters may store public land written permissions to hunt digitally on a mobile devic...e. No need to print and sign each written permission page anymore! The process to book your hunt in a NSW State forest has not changed; however from Monday you are able to capture, store, carry and produce the written permission on your mobile device. Just make sure you can show the permission on the screen of your device when asked by an Inspector, and that the permission is legible on the screen. If you choose, you may still print and carry a physical written permission, however you no longer need to sign each page. Visit our website for more information: https://bit.ly/2sYXO0A

09.01.2022 FISHING/HUNTING TRIPS While brief fishing trips from home are considered exercise (within the two-person limit), fishing and camping holidays are not. Plea...se don’t think if you pack up your fishing, camping or hunting gear this Easter or school holiday break and travel into country NSW that you are doing it legally you are not. The inclusion of fishing, hunting and golf as an allowable recreation is about people who can access that activity locally. You cannot use fishing, hunting or golf as an excuse to travel on a holiday or to your usual retreat in country NSW. The key message here is people should not to travel unless it is absolutely necessary to do so and covered by an exemption (for example to go to the supermarket or doctor). We are asking people to understand that staying inside your own community with your own family is the safest option. All police in regional NSW will be patrolling roads and conducting high visibility policing operations. Along with traffic law enforcement, those officers will be targeting unnecessary travel. Persons detected travelling without reasonable excuse will be directed to return to their home address and run the risk of being issued with a $1000 infringement notice.
