25.01.2022 With disruption reaching all industries sectors, construction will not be spared change with pivot strategies required at all levels. New rules books are been written for how project team structures operate and projects delivered. With the Project Alliance Models seen to be broken new models such as Integrated Project Delivery are gaining momentum.
25.01.2022 BIM is the buzz across the AEC Industry, yet there are many misconceptions about what it means. Watch this video for some examples of how DEFAUS uses BIM in structural engineering, from conceptual design to engineering analysis to workshop detailing.

22.01.2022 Workshop Fabrication General Notes - We have recently updated out General Notes in accordance with the current Australian Steel Institute (ASI) - Structural Steelwork Standard Drawing Notes (1st Edition). Our version is setup for an A1 sheet in Advance Steel & Autocad. If anyone is interested in a cad version of these notes to save themselves the time and effort to reproduce these again themselves let me know and I will arrange to send a copy.

19.01.2022 At DEFAUS, we are always looking for ways to do things better. When we received a client request with an overwhelming amount of documentation and a tight deadline, we realised we needed a tool that takes basic parameters and quickly creates a model. This is when the idea of using Dynamo came to light. Learn more about how we used computational design and Dynamo to model a bridge. https://medium.com//topic-dynamo-to-model-bridges-why-not-

19.01.2022 At DEFAUS, we believe that engineering and fabrication models should be fully detailed and digitally represent the structure exactly the way it should be build. Learn more about the benefits of our detailed modelling and engineering in the article below: https://medium.com//design-of-modular-control-rooms-590c5e
18.01.2022 DEFAUS is a strong advocate of BIM, incorporating 3D modelling as key methodology and tools, shared with the client and other parties to the process of planning. In a project to design a 60t industrial shed awning to a warehouse, one of the key considerations of our design was to reduce construction cost. To achieve this, we created a fully detailed BIM model, to analyse important components and quantities. Learn more about how our approach resulted in optimisation of design and cost-savings: https://medium.com//design-of-an-industrial-shed-awning-95

09.01.2022 Innovations do not always necessarily lead to better construction. Did the rise of Revit cause dropping levels of quality and detail in drafting? Read more here and tell us what you think! https://medium.com//rising-technologies-dropping-quality-9
