25.01.2022 Comet Bay College is the first school in WA to receive a webcam as part of the Making Connections Matter program. The school has 62 students from ADF families. Thanks to the webcams we’re providing for the program, these families will be better supported when they’re separated due to deployment. Lauren from Defence Health made the special delivery to the Principal, Jamie Hayres.

23.01.2022 Our team member, Barb, is a founding member of Women Veterans Network Australia. Defence Health has helped the women to remain connected this year through Zoom subscriptions. But lucky Barb (in Townsville) caught up with the WVNA for lunch last Saturday to celebrate Veterans’ Health Week. Here she is (right) pictured with Kylie, the WVNA National Coordinator. Thank you ladies for your heartfelt support of our veterans. #veteranshealth

22.01.2022 Nicola from Defence Health (pictured right) attended a moving service at Soldier On headquarters in Canberra today. As the partner of an ex-serving ADF member, Nicola was honoured to help lay the stunning field of handmade poppies. #WeRememberThem

20.01.2022 For the third year running, we’ve been recognised as a Winner for Employer of Choice in the Australian Business Awards. We’re very proud of our workplace culture and performance.

19.01.2022 Tomorrow is World Mental Health Day and the beginning of Mental Health Week. We’re providing the skipping ropes for the Kookaburra Kids national Skip4Kids Challenge. They work to empower and support young people living in families affected by mental illness. We’re happy to provide the ropes. But we’ll pass on the ‘4-hour continuous skipping challenge’!

16.01.2022 We know that family connection to the classroom matters. That’s why we’re supporting Katie Thornton’s awesome program by providing webcams to schools with Defence School Mentors and ADF kids. Our special deliveries are on their way to the DSMs in Sydney and northern NSW. Stay connected and stay happy! #makingconnectionsmatter

10.01.2022 The Australian War Memorial Remembrance Day service will be broadcast live across Australia by the ABC today. At the eleventh hour, on the eleventh day of the eleventh month, we observe one minute’s silence to remember not only those lost in war, but all who came home and also those who follow in their footsteps. Lest we forget. #WeRememberThem

09.01.2022 It’s Veterans’ Health Week and the focus is on social connection. Social connection is so important for our emotional and physical wellbeing. Many veterans have been feeling ‘disconnected’ this year due to COVID-19 restrictions. If you know a veteran who could benefit from a friendly chat, please reach out - either virtually or face-to-face.

09.01.2022 Veterans Australia NT and Exercise Stone Pillow have come together around the theme of social connection for Veterans Health Week. They hosted a bush dance and sleepout near Darwin last Saturday to raise vital funds for homeless veterans. Our Defence Community Relationship Officer, Cassie, captured this snap of some of the veterans enjoying a jig! Thanks Cassie for sharing our support for #VeteransHealth

09.01.2022 Open Arms is a valuable resource for veterans and their families. If you need to talk, contact Open Arms.

08.01.2022 Our final event for Veterans’ Health Week was with Mates4Mates in Townsville. Veterans and their families were invited to try out their skills at wheelchair rugby, under the instruction of national and state players. Wheelchair rugby is just one of the adaptive sports that help veterans improve their physical and emotional wellbeing after service-related injury. Barb from Defence Health (right) and Alison from Kookaburra Kids were impressed by the skill and speed demonstrated by the professional athletes.

04.01.2022 There is a distinct scent of optimism in the Melbourne air today. A drive of 25 km never felt so good. And haircuts and allied health are back on! But judging by the queues outside the barber shop, it might be best to phone ahead.
