24.01.2022 DON’T FORGET THESE! Sleep Sleep plays a critical role in energy metabolism. A physiological adaptation occurs when sleep is insufficient where an uptake of calories is needed to provide the energy needed to stay awake. ... Meaning, when we don’t get enough sleep we are inclined to eat more for our body to continue functioning; creating potential for weight gain. Hydration Adequate consumption of water will help metabolise carbohydrate and fat stores as opposed to having them stay put on your body. Further, water has 0 calories and when compared to other beverages (soda’s, juices, alcohol etc) is a pretty good deal when trying to lose fat. Water also acts as an appetite suppressant, meaning you will be less inclined to reach for food as you already feel quite full. Plus, you won’t have time as you’ll be going to the bathroom every 10 minutes Stress Management Stress triggers a signal sent from the brain to our adrenal gland to release cortisol - our natural stress hormone. Cortisol inhibits the body’s ability to absorb glucose which increases blood sugar which is left circulating our bodies which is later converted and stored as fat. What’s the takeaway? Stress less Easier said than done, right? Although there are ways in which you can reduce stress levels such as meditation, journaling, exercise and sleep! Steps Steps. Are. Important. Your body burns more calories per day from remaining active and consistently moving than your single 45 minute HIIT workout you just crushed. So don’t be a sloth, get up and move around! Liquid Calories So many people claim they don’t eat anything and gain weight or struggle to lose fat. They don’t tell you about the large juice they had at breakfast, couple of coffees during the day, milkshake with lunch - extra syrup, protein shake after training and glass of soft drink with dinner. See the point? Liquid calories are very easy to consume, add up quick, and contribute to fat gain the same way food does. Keep these in mind when trying to lose fat! Calorie deficit and sufficient training are always talked about, but it’s the little things that can take you where you want to go!

20.01.2022 A huge congratulations to client @hayleyhelmrich losing 6.7% body fat working with coach @daniel_knust_definition over the last couple of months Initially calories were increased to gain lean muscle & strength, and Hayley achieved this and actually got leaner on higher calories! Then we dropped calories in to a small deficit and she lost 5.2kgs easily revealing incredible muscle definition and bringing out her abs without much trouble at all. ... 17.01.2022 This workout will have you feeling stomped that’s for sure! SAVE this workout to try this week Starting with a 1 minute plank, then directly jumping in to the first section! ... Once completed, have a brief rest while you prepare for the second part! 10 reps of barbell power cleans, burpees, and single arm dumbbell alternating snatch (10 each arm), followed by 9 of each, 8 of each, all the way to 1 rep of each movement! Third section involves pushing a sled with 3 plates 15 meters, followed by calories as pictured! After completing 1 calorie, you end with a triple dropset - push the sled 15m with the three plates, take a plate off, push another 15m, take another plate off, push 15m take the last plate off and finish with a 15m empty sled push! 06.01.2022 20 TIPS FOR FAT LOSS 1 Stop looking for quick fixes. 2 Avoid crash diets. ... 3 Macro and Micronutrients matter. 4 You MUST place yourself in a weekly calorie deficit. Yes this includes the weekends too. 5 There are no magic foods. 6 If you're not tracking your food intake and calorie expenditure you're flying blind. 7 Monitor and manipulate your training, cardio, nutrition and daily movement for best results. 8 Be careful who you follow in this industry. There’s a lot of bullshit out there. 9 Cutting out ALL your carbs is NOT the answer for most people. 03.01.2022 SLEEP! We all love it, but don’t all get enough of it When it comes to sleep, you want to ensure you’re maximising quality, not just duration! ... Here are 9 tips to enhance your sleep! 1. Go to bed and wake up the same time each day Establishing a routine helps your body and mind get into a rhythm! 2. Increase sunlight exposure during day Light is a trigger for you to stay awake, this dates way back to primal era. So when it comes to night and it’s dark, it’s a signal to sleep. 3. Reduce blue light exposure at least 2 hours before sleep Blue light from electronic screens is a trigger for your brain to stay awake and active. It is best to put away all screens before you try and sleep. However we know how addicting TikTok can be, before you know it, it’s 4am so buy some blue light glasses! This will stop the blue light getting to you. 4. Avoid caffeine consumption late in afternoon/evening I get it, we’ve all slammed some pre at 9pm and headed to the gym for an off the rails sesh. We know that all you’re left with is a mad pump and a bad nights sleep. Avoiding stimulants later in the day will help you sleep better! 5. Exercise regularly Regular exercises fatigues your body, which will then need rest to recover! 6. Make your room as dark as possible Zero light, pitch black darkness. Essentially the opposite of what you want during the day, to tell your mind and body it’s time to sleep. 7. Optimise room temperature Too cold or too hot, you know your sleep suffers! If you can, set the room temperature to what you find comfortable - 18 degrees Celsius is common! 8. Avoid eating big meals close to bed Having a lot of food sit in your stomach and digest while you sleep can actually impact sleep quality! 9. Do something relaxing Read a book, meditate, listen to a podcast - chill out before you sleep and you’ll sleep a lot better! 02.01.2022 Astonishing transformation by our incredible member, Alli, who participated in our most recent 8 Week Comeback Challenge! Before the challenge, I had lost all motivation and was at my heaviest ever weight. I had been emotional eating for too long and wasn’t feeling good about myself. My self confidence had hit an all time low. I continued with the same bad habits, but no desire to fix it. The comeback challenge was the perfect opportunity to get myself back o...n track. During the 8 week challenge, I lost 10.5kg and 11.7cm off my waist. (Amazing ) My favourite part of the challenge was the ongoing support and community spirit. Not once did I feel like I was alone. I had initial hesitation to join a class, as I was worried I wouldn’t be fit enough to keep up. But the classes were so great! I wish I’d done them earlier.
