19.01.2022 So, today I’ve been working at Definitive Dental for 10 years. A whole decade and nearly a quarter of my life. I want to thank you - my boss Anthony, the patients, the staff and specialists - so much for helping me become the hygienist I am today and for being a part of my life. Firstly, to the patients - Thankyou for letting me into your lives. We’ve laughed, we’ve cried, we’ve cried from laughing so much! I look forward to seeing you each time and hearing what you’ve achiev...ed and how you’ve grown with what life throws your way. From first dates to engagements and weddings and watching our kids grow up and everything in between. I’m so grateful that you share your journeys with me and of course I love that you all have such a passion for your oral health and the oral health of your loved ones. Secondly, thankyou to the amazing specialists that we refer to. How lucky we are to have such incredible orthodontists and periodontists right here in Canberra. I’m so grateful for everything you do for our patients. I know they are always in the very best hands with you. Thirdly, to the staff - old and new - you are the heart of the practice and you have all brought something special and unique to the practice. I have learnt so much from each and every one of you and, whether you’re assisting in the surgery or in steri or reception, I appreciate what you do every single day! And last but by no means least, to Anthony - I know we are like chalk and cheese and I’m loud and crazy (and very pink hahaha) but I’m so proud to be able to work with you and for you. You make sure we have the very best equipment and are always on top of the latest and greatest techniques with our continuing education. 07.01.2022 What’s this thing called Dysphagia? Dysphagia (dis-fay-juh) is difficulty swallowing, and today (13 March) is Swallowing Awareness Day. The theme for the day i...n 2019 is, Dysphagia: A difficult diagnosis to swallow. People who have trouble swallowing are at risk of choking, poor nutrition and dehydration, while babies and children with difficulty feeding my not take in enough nutrients to support growth and brain development. Speech pathologists are the professionals who assess and treat swallowing disorders. Every day speech pathologists work with families and individuals across the lifespan to ease the burden of dysphagia. On Swallowing Awareness Day, 13 March, help us spread the word about dysphagia.
