25.01.2022 Delicious sweet blackberries from Mikor farm stall at Warriewood farmers market. Be quick! Yum!

25.01.2022 Beetroot Smoothie I had this while on holiday in Chiang Mai (Thailand) as a juice. I loved the flavour combination of guava, celery & beetroot. I have modified this slightly as I do not have a juicer per se, but I do have a powerful blender. I am also using guava nectar because I havent got any guavas (not ideal, but a compromise) and I am adding an apple too for sweetness.... 1 small beetroot 1 guava (or a small glass of guava juice 200ml) 1 apple celery leaves & stalk (Im only using a few leaves as mine is from my garden and very strong in flavour) 1 cup of water 1 handful of ice cubes Put all ingredients in your powerful blender and mix until you get a nice liquid consistency (if you grate the beetroot & apple and chop the celery you can blend in any blender!). You can reduce the amount of water if you want thicker blend. Delicious! I love beetroot and I find this smoothie a good alternative to green smoothie. Also beetroot are simply full of health benefits (find out more here http://www.greenmedinfo.com//beet-your-way-back-healthier-). I am mainly interested in the liver detoxifying properties and the action on the blood vessels. Beetroot with its high nitrate content promotes blood vessels dilatation = better blood flow to all areas of the body = more efficient use of nutrients = stamina, energy! #deliciousnutrition, #beetroot #redsmoothie

22.01.2022 The ripple effect of one resolution May 2014 bring you many happy ripples. As with every new year, I review the previous year and look at where I can improve. I look at my ideals make lots of wishes. Invariably, those resolutions fizzle out very quickly when it turns out that they are impractical and very hard to follow. So this year I am trying something new, I am making only one small resolution. I am going for the detail, not the big picture. One resolution that I can foll...ow through. Let me explain. I am committing myself to 3 sessions per week of Bikram Yoga for three months! There it is very simple and precise. Three months to start off as it is less daunting and costly than committing to a whole year. However I am banking on the ripple effects of this resolution to influence other areas in my life that I would like to improve. EXERCISE: I shamefully admit that I got really lazy in 2013 and did not exercise regularly. As a result I find myself extremely unfit. So committing to yoga three times a week will improve my fitness. With improve fitness comes more ENERGY. ENERGY to do other things I enjoy like spending more time gardening, growing some herbs and vegies, maybe even taking up a craft! You may think that exercise will wear you out but with exercise, your blood gets to circulate more efficiently to all your cells resulting in more oxygen & nutrients delivered (=fuel for cells) and waste products can be carried off too. In short, everything works more efficiently. This include the ENDOCRINE system which regulates our many hormones. Insulin may work more efficiently stabilising blood sugar levels and at the same time reducing INFLAMMATION. Stress levels may come down and with it cortisol meaning better sleep, better moods, less inflammation... With everything working so much more efficiently in this extraordinary body of ours I may even lose some WEIGHT! There are so may ripple effects that can come my way from one simple resolution. When things dont go to plan, Ill stick to my one and only resolution. I will let the ripples wash over me and I will enjoy the effects. Happy New Year and I hope youll find a resolution with many happy ripples! Martha Leonard Delicious Nutrition Therapy #deliciousnutrition, #rippleeffect

22.01.2022 Fritatta great way to use up your vegies Frittatas I love them. Basically an omelette to which you can add anything. Frittata is on the menu when theres not much left in the fridge, before my shopping day The best thing about a frittata is that it is very nutritious (lots of protein from the eggs), it can be eaten cold (=great in lunch box) and it is delicious! All I need is ... 6-8 eggs any left over vegetables chopped (e.g. carrots, capsicum, broccoli, pumpkin) cheese (feta or other) salt & pepper 1 tablespoon of water (gives a better consistency) Beat the eggs, add salt & pepper, your vegies, water and youre done. Line a oven tray, pour the frittata mix in and cook in medium oven for 20-30min (until firm). #deliciousnutrition #frittata

19.01.2022 Why is it that bad habits are so easy to acquire but so difficult to get rid of? Or is it that we dont really notice the good habits but are quick to criticise bad ones? Lets acknowledge some good habits for example I am proud of my habit of having kefir every day! What about you? Do you want to share a good habit? #deliciousnutrition #goodhabit

14.01.2022 Check out this interesting article on Alzheimers and its link to diabetes. It seems that it could be a form of diabetes. But also very interesting is the role of COCONUT OIL in preventing and also repairing brain function! Make sure to start using coconut oil on a daily basis. You can cook with it, add it to smoothies or other foods. Your brain will love it! http://www.greenmedinfo.com//sugar-and-your-brain-alzheimers-disease-actually-type-3-diabetes?utm_source=Master+List&utm_campaign=42d3068ecc-Greenmedinfo&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_af50e1f25a-42d3068ecc-87505349

07.01.2022 Fennel salad Fennel has distinct aniseed taste, and is great in salads. I like to mix it with radish and this time I also added some pear slices for sweetness, pumpkin seeds & parsley. I usually sprinkle some white balsamic vinegar and olive oil as dressing. Does anyone have a better dressing? I think it could be improved with a different dressing.

07.01.2022 Good to know Fin!
