25.01.2022 To wrap up my 5x5 series, I give you REBEL RAY! Rebel is a dynamite dry-cutter in Castlemaine in Victoria, one of the best gals you’ll ever meet and an industry bestie of mine! . 1. I don’t really have a favourite cut but if l had to choose, it would be freehand organic dry cutting. The ones that make my clients smile from ear to ear. ... 2. I get inspired by everything, without trying to sound like an absolute wanker, by my clients, music, film, fashion, photography, art and the world around me. 3. The positive outcome of this COVID year is the realisation that we need to slow down, really look after ourselves and each other. The planet and humanity is beautiful and vulnerable, don’t take it or humans for granted. 4. My go to trade tool is my razor. I friggen love love love it! It’s an extension of my body 5. My sage advice would be never stop learning and and unlearning. Foundation & Experimentation... go together like horse and carriage.

15.01.2022 Next up in my 5x5 series is... Drumroll pleaseAll the way from Chicago, the curl queen of the USA herself - CHRISSY COLLINS! . WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HAIRCUT TO DO AT THE MOMENT AND WHY? My favorite haircut is anything with a big shape! I feel like hair is a great way to express yourself & big hair is my fav. HOW DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION AND STAY INSPIRED?... I find inspiration in my clients, music, & architecture. Personally, I can catch someone’s vibes if they’re ready for change in their hair. Going along a hair journey with someone who’s ready to switch it up is inspiring in itself. WHAT IS ONE THING THAT HAS POSITIVELY CHANGED FOR YOUR BUSINESS DURING COVID-19? One thing that has positively changed for me since covid-19 is remembering to SLOW DOWN. It’s so easy to get caught up & just go go go all the time. It’s more rewarding to pause, reflect, and move forward at reasonable pace. IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ONE GO-TO TOOL THAT IS A MUST HAVE FOR ANYONE READING THIS, WHAT WOULD IT BE? My go-to tool is a microfiber towel. They cut down frizz & dry time by just simply using a towel! They’re affordable & honestly I haven’t not used one in like 7 years? So dang simple. I love em. WHAT IS YOUR SAGE ADVICE FOR ANY STYLIST WANTING TO EXPAND THEIR REPETOIRE AND EMBARK ON A DRY-CUTTING/CURL JOURNEY? My advice would be to not over think it! Often times when I’m doing one-on-one classes I notice people like to keep cutting in places to make the section perfect EXTRA>>> Curls naturally have MOVEMENT. They will change after their hydrated, and they’ll change on day 5! So I like to pause after a section and say to myself is that going to bounce up? And if I don’t know I’ll wait until after the wash & style. Less is more when cutting curls. See more

03.01.2022 Next up in my 5x5 series is the incredible Charmaine, who is, SHARVIVACIOUS! Charmaine is a leader in the natural movement community in Byron Bay and is a regular guest artist at Mousey Browne! . WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE HAIRCUT TO DO AT THE MOMENT AND WHY? Who doesn’t love a good Shag...right ! Curly shag cuts are definitely the most popular flavour at the moment. Always love transforming a guest from their existing one length blunt shape to then unleashing their natural textu...re, adding top volume and revealing their own inner rockstar. HOW DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION AND STAY INSPIRED? I met Tara Walker from the one and only Mousey Browne 3 years ago and she asked if I’d be interested to work for her. I was curious to see how she was running her studio with no basin and whipping out these amazing shapes and editorial images on her Instagram. I then had the opportunity to shadow Tara for 2-3 days and this is were Mousey inspired me to niche into natural texture using the Mousey Browne method of dry-haircutting . I continue to find inspo by connecting with other dry-cutting artists within the natural texture/curl community nationally and globally via insta. Also Pinterest is definitely another to go-to for inspo and it’s my visual playground! I like to create all sorts electronic look book visuals and lose myself in the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s rockstars, curls, curly bangs, shags and mullets. WHAT IS ONE THING THAT HAS CHANGED FOR THE BETTER FOR YOUR BUSINESS DURING COVID-19? I’ve been able to sit and enjoy lunch meals like never before. I’ve been forced to reset and find balance in my life and I’ve not had the common 2020 flu, WINNING !! IF YOU COULD CHOOSE ONE GO-TO TOOL OF THE TRADE FOR ANYONE READING THIS, AND WHY? Well we can’t do much without our and my must have tools would be my single-prong pin curls clips, I love my YS Park hair defuser and of course can’t go without Sea-Salt Cream by @delilah_hair_studio WHAT IS YOUR SAGE ADVICE FOR ANY STYLIST WANTING TO EXPAND THEIR REPERTOIRE AND EMBARK ON A DRY-CUTTING JOURNEY? If you’re a stylist who feels stuck in your ways #groundhogday, not loving the headspace your’e in and feeling the need to mix it up. This could be something you may want to tap into. Exploring dry-cutting methods has definitely been a great turning point and a positive journey for me. Also has by far been one of the quickest client building services I have ever offered due to the amount of curly girls looking for a trusting hairstylist to reshape their curls. Im a strong believer in ‘never stop learning’ and I like to express dry-cutting as a free range way to sculpt hair in its natural form allowing you to sculpt instant shape and control on naturally textured hair. So here it is .... if your thinking to expand your business, want to embark on more skills as a crafts person and add more to your box of tricks ? Then check out dry cutting and start your dry-cutting journey. Its never to late
