The research tells us that to benefi...t brain development a music program can be in any instrument. The most important factors is that it includes sequential learning, reading notation, development of audiation skills through singing and using rhythm syllable, individual playing and ensemble playing, between 2-5 hours per week and that this learning continues uninterrupted for 3 years. With all of these factors it doesn't matter which instrument the children learn, just as long as they are learning music with the highest expectations of progress and success.
