24.01.2022 Animal Health Update Proper vaccination techniques To protect livestock from clostridial diseases its important that you follow the recommended vaccination program. If introducing stock and not 100% certain of vaccination history, you should treat them as unvaccinated. Important to note that the first needle only primes the immune system and provides a small amount of protection if any in some animals. It is only after the second dose the immune system is capable of protecting against the disease (photo courtesy Zoetis). If you would like more information, please speak to your Delta Ag Adviser.

16.01.2022 Barbers Pole Worm Current conditions are ideal for a Barbers Pole Worm storm with female worm laying from 5000-10,000 eggs every day. Barbers Pole Worm are blood suckers with every worm removing up to 0.05ml of blood every day totaling 50ml per day from the above count. Barbers Pole Worm numbers can build up very quickly and if not kept in check they will cause major production losses and deaths. At Delta AG we can assist producers to keep these in check and limit production losses. (photo courtesy of Wormboss.com.au)

08.01.2022 Animal Health Update Pulpy Kidney Pulpy Kidney is caused by the toxin Clostridium perfringens Type D and is normally found in healthy sheep and cattle at low levels. If looking to move vaccinated stock to a high-risk situation they should receive a booster if not vaccinated in the last 3 months. Please speak to your Delta AG adviser if you would like assistance in managing Pulpy Kidney.
