25.01.2022 An invitation to take a survey about puppy training, run by Dr Katrina Ward, veterinary behaviourist. Katrina would love as many people as possible to take the survey, whether or not their puppy went to puppy training. Here's the link...the survey is completely anonymous. Feel free to share the link too :-) https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/WPZYH75 Email: [email protected]
23.01.2022 A great read from our friends at the Delta Institute 8 ways that we humans baffle our dogs. Next time you get a head tilt, you'll know why!
23.01.2022 With all the extra activity around Christmas time, even the most laid back dogs can become confused or over excited. They'll thank you for giving them a quiet comfortable place they can escape to when it all just gets too much! Things like whistles, balloons and noisy toys can frighten dogs and some dogs might even nip out of fear. Delta Dog Safe wishes you, your children and your pets a happy, healthy and safe Christmas and New Year :-)
23.01.2022 These wonderful volunteers and their Delta dogs are all set to deliver messages about safe behaviour around dogs to young children across Tassie...what a team! Schools and child care centres can book now at deltadogsafetas.org.au
21.01.2022 Introducing Delta Dan (left) and Delta Dot (right). They’re raring to get back to work, helping young kids learn how to read dogs body language and when to leave dogs alone, when and how to pat a dog safely and what to do if approached by a dog. Over 70,000 children in Tasmania have enjoyed a Delta Dog Safe visit to their school or childcare centre and Dan and Dot can’t wait to make that number grow! The program is fully funded by the Department of Health, there's no cost to schools or students. Please share this post with any early childhood teachers and child carers that you know! BOOKINGS can be made online at deltadogsafetas.org.au or email [email protected]

06.01.2022 Many of us have discovered the benefits of spending time with our furry and feathered friends. Indeed from all kinds of animals big and small. Whether being wit...h your own pet, spending time with a family or friend’s pet, or volunteering at a rescue centre. Animals can encourage us to be active, are company, and share many moments of daily life. We are also realising the importance of companion and therapy dogs. As they say at Delta Dog Safe Tasmania: ‘The human-animal bond improves our quality of life and leaves a lasting paw print on our hearts’. Do you have a special animal in your life? Share a photo or memory. #healthytas See more

03.01.2022 A slow-motion look at dogs signalling each other at playtime, looks like fun!
03.01.2022 Our pets are probably very happy to have us staying at home, although sometimes even they can have too much of a good thing! FIVE tips to help you and them... ONE: Stick to your normal routine as much as possible (feed times, walk times etc) TWO: Make sure your pet has a safe space they can go to if they want some alone time. It could be the dog's bed or their crate - somewhere where they'll never be disturbed. THREE: Don't let your kids approach a dog who's lying down, or eating, or busy chewing. FOUR: Use pet gates and barriers to separate young kids and dogs when you can’t be supervising them. FIVE: Get your learning on! This might be a good time to enter the fascinating world of dog behaviour, a nice distraction from all the breaking news. There's lots of free articles at www.companionanimalpsychology.com
