23.01.2022 Happy Australia Day - enjoy the day, look after each other and enjoy this beautiful country.

23.01.2022 The aged care royal commission has revealed that many older Australians prefer stay at home, calling for "far more urgent effort" to prioritise at home care over residential care. We couldn't agree more! Also from the commission: "Each hour of additional home care a week was associated with an appreciable 6 per cent lowering of the chance that the person would ever have to enter residential care. Home care should act as a stitch in time, preventing or at least delaying much more weighty problems and more costly forms of care." Read the full article below:

18.01.2022 When Lien found going to the hairdresser a struggle, she knew she needed help. Our team was more than happy to step in and help. Read her story below: "Due to arthritis and my advanced age, my mobility is limited and I can no longer walk to my local shopping area or visit my hairdresser. My activities have been confined to inside and around my home. With the limited use of my arms I can not lift them above my shoulders and constant pain, it has been very difficult for me ...to wash and set my hair without some agony. Being able to take care of myself and do what I want, without depending too much on others, has always been my wish in my later years. Lizzie, a case manager at Dementia Caring, introduced me to Karen, an occupational therapist. After an assessment, Karen recommended for me to get a scooter and together, Lizzie and Karen engaged with others from Mobility Caring to provide me with a free scooter trial, once I got clearance from my doctor. The process was very efficient. Mobility Caring delivered 2 scooters one with my favourite colour and model! - to my place within a week and the whole team has supported me with my test drive to ensure the right choice for back support and ease of operation. They gave me clear instructions and Karen declared I passed the test once I was able to drive the scooter properly to my shop and back - with a whole support team and my daughter walking behind me. I was so happy with the result! Without waiting any longer, I drove my new scooter to my hairdresser’s appointment the next day with mixed feelings of pride, happiness and gratitude for the dedication of the team of professionals who helped me fulfil my wishes for independence. I would like to thank the team of professionals from Dementia Caring, Mobility Caring, Super Rehab for a wonderful service that they have given me and the excellent outcome that helps me regain my independence in my routines.

08.01.2022 It’s wonderful to hear firsthand how our service has helped someone live life to the full (because really, that’s what it’s all about!). Here’s what one of our clients had to say: We have suffered much in the Vietnam war and came to Australia as refugees. The Australian government has treated us well, and this has become our second home. In the past, we have received caring services from other companies, but due to cultural differences, communication was difficult for us. Si...nce we came to Home Caring’s dementia service, we felt that our needs have been looked after much better, as we are now receiving care from people who speak our own language. The communication barrier is no longer there. I would like to say a special thanks to the Home Caring staff for such good quality service!
