24.01.2022 Beautiful Backs I love having details on the back, they always feel like a little surprise .... What do you think, are you a fan of back details too?

16.01.2022 This is the latest dress with a corselette I’ve been working on - which didn’t quite go to plan but came together in the end. The underbodice is a double layer of linen and I’ve used German plastic boning. The corselette and bodice are attached at the neckline with a facing and the bodice closes below the waist with snaps. The skirt is satin and the bodice is three layers: lace, satin and cotton underlining. Pattern: Vintage Vogue 4103

10.01.2022 Back to playing catch up with my inner corselette makes! I managed to make this dress out of a remnant so that made me happy. ( I posted the corselette a few posts back) The whole dress is underlined with lining, rather than lined. I’m finding that’s quite common with these types of dresses. It has deep pleats over the bust and the front skirt is cut on the bias to help those side pleats hang elegantly. And I think my catch phrase should be ‘and it has a bow’! It seems th...ey were very popular in the 50s and 60s and appear on every other dress But they are a nice finishing touch and I think I’m almost learning as much about different ways to construct them as corselettes. 10.01.2022 Sneak peak! I haven’t had much time to work on this gown for a while, but it’s coming along slowly. The dress is done, the petticoat is finished, I just need some time to join them together. Pattern : Vintage Vogue 1343

01.01.2022 This is one intense petticoat! The darted side panels and horsehair trim give a really exaggerated hip curve .... plus those ruffles for some back fullness ... can you see where I had to patch another fabric into the ruffle to get the right length.
