12.01.2022 New Committee and AGM Update DENILIQUIN LAWN TENNIS CLUB AGM Sunday 21st June 2020 30 members turned out for the AGM of the Deniliquin Lawn Tennis Club on Sund...ay. President John Henderson reported that year had been one of achievement even after advent of the convin19. Membership across the Club had increased in the senior club members, the Junior Club steady, Croquet Club, and Tuesday Ladies steady. With the new lights allowing night tennis 80 members were playing on Wednesday evening with modified rules that are termed Fast 6. Financially the Club has not been badly effected as yet as the Ute Muster last year was a great success and somewhat covered the loss and expected boost from the 4 day Easter Tennis Tournament being cancelled. The President was thankful for the assistance of the his Committee but particularly thanked the great effort over many years of past president and committee member Lourene Liebenberg. John said Lourene has been dynamic and enthusiastic in all aspects of the club, including being a driving force behind maintaining the Souvlaki Stand at the Ute Muster, noting we are one of the few local organisations still operating a stall. Lourene along with Dean and Barry has been a key component in the organisation of the Easter tournament. A new Committee was elected for the next 12 months. New chums on the Committee are Felicity Dye, Mark Ritchie and Bill Dudley which gives the committee a country feel. The exec team are the old hands of Clive Gow, Harley Moore, John Henderson and Nick Metcalf. The treasurers position is vacant for the time being with a suitable replacement required for Colleen Henderson being the first job of the committee. The Committee have identified the completion of the 6 new courts and additional works as the first job they need to see completed. Then the placement of lights rescued from the North Tennis Club around the Lawn Club. The Committee has committed to continuing their stall at the Ute Muster and also to running the Western Riverina Championships next Easter if possible.

05.01.2022 We hope all our Deni Junior tennis families are enjoying their summer break. What a great way we ended the year with a very successful last round for 2019. It was fantastic to see so many kids & parents turn up for their last week of coaching for the year. It was also lovely to see great support watching our section one final. Congratulations to the two teams for finishing top 2. And congratulations to the winning team Murray Constructions who were mostly unstoppable all yea...r. Kiss my Ace put up a good contest and had a solid year as well. The final score was 7 sets to 3 but with most sets very close on games. Congratulations to Max Ferguson for wining the three set award. He only lost one set for the year and completed winning 3 in the grand final. A worthy winner for his first year in section 1. Our mini tennis tournament against Hay on the last week was also a massive success. Even though Hay were the better team on the day, we were so proud of our squad team for competing & enjoying the day. It was a huge accomplishment for some who were playing their first ever competitive match to show such skill, passion and great court manners. Our new squad uniform looked very professional and cant wait to wear again in more tournaments to come this year. We would like to thank Rob & Jo Wettenhall for organising the mini tournament & uniform for the day. Huge thankyou to Deniliquin Newsagency & Book Store -owners Mark & Naomi Ritchie for sponsoring the squad uniform and thankyou to Hay, for travelling to Deniliquin. A special thank you to all our parent coaches who turned up each week to help deliver our club with quality coaching. The children rely on your wonderful support, and we look forward to seeing our coaches and parent helpers again this year. The tennis program simply cant operate as successfully as it has without parent helpers. We have some exciting news to come in the next week, with a holiday coaching day and introducing our new tennis coach from Echuca. There will also be an opportunity to participate in the 2020 Junior Development Series tournaments, to which we are hosting one of these events. More information to follow in the next few days.
