20.01.2022 2nd Grade Semi Final Update: Vs South Hurstville/Carss Park After winning the toss and electing to bowl, St George came out with vicious intent. With a sublime 3rd over from Nicholas Carosi, taking 2 cleanly bowled wickets, St George were in the hot seat. From then on, wickets continued to come, with Alex Williams bowling his best spell over the season (2-10 after 7), followed by wickets from each bowler (Christopher Leontios, Mohammed Shams, and Amit Sarker - cleaning out th...e tail). Though, the highlight of the bowling innings was a screamer by William Lam. A dominant bowling performance, saw a target of 87 within reach. Our opening partners William Lam and Avirup Sarkar, showed positive intent, with Amit Sarkar reaching an excellently played 50, to get the score of 87 before the close of play. However, a small collapse sees St George 8-116, with another day to play. Even though we have gone past their score, South Hurstville/Carss Park are within their right to continue play, and have the ability to post a second innings lead to see if they can grasp victory. With another day to play, who will change the game and put St George into the semi-final, and how will it end? Stay tuned for more. St George Leagues Cricket Club - 2nd Grade See more

11.01.2022 St George Leagues Cricket Club 2nd Grade VS South Hurstville Carss Park - Update After a tense day 1, day 2 posed new threats. With a lead of 48, the day seemed to be heading all in St George’s direction. Once again Nicholas Carosi proved lethal with 4 top order wickets. However, that’s where it was stopping for St George, with the SHCP captain notching up a well made 50 to declare with a lead of 86. With two and a half hours to bat, St George needed to either hold out, or get the runs for victory, and with the intent the opening partnership saw, holding out wasn’t an option. William Lam and Christopher Leontios put on a steady partnership, and Nicholas Carosi and William Tsolovos steered the team home, winning by 6 wickets. Rest in Peace Denis, and until we meet again we will do your name and care for this club proud! Look out!!

04.01.2022 Preliminary Final 2nd Grade: St George Leagues Cricket Club vs ICC Being set a total of 202, St George knew that not only was the target going to be difficult to come by, but that the heat would also prove pivotal in who would fall first. A rocky start saw St George 3 wickets down for not too many runs, and the up hill fight, proved even more difficult. Even with a few strong partnerships byAvirup Sarkar, Nicholas Carosi, Farhen Gena and William Tsovolos, St George fell 65 r...uns short of victory, and the reigning joint premiers were knocked out of the tournament. Although it is a bitter pill to swallow, the boys played some incredible cricket throughout the season, and even though we have fallen agonisingly short of another Grand Final, the team can hold their heads high at what they accomplished throughout the season. Special mentions to both captains, Christopher Leontios and Amit Sarkar, who lead the team by the front all season. This was not a loss, but a learning curve for next year, where the St George team will be hungrier than ever. See you all next season, for what will be another stellar year.
