In a reading, the new psychic busts a chakra trying to "get" something, when all it needs is to be still, open and alert. But we aren't trained to be still open and alert in this world of micro edits, email dings and facebook notifiations. At New Years, it’s tipped out to reminisce and do the ‘remember when’s'. Except this year it’s pretty empty. ... But is it? In that empty pickle space is also: * Time devoted to sitting for spirit- a foundational practice essential for all good psychics and mediums. * A tiny book- yes I wrote one. * New appreciation for my ever patient partner, and an even closer connection after going through some rocky COVID inspired times. * As I live with the grief of losing my fur-boy, Bruce, a feeling of gratefulness for the time we had. * Discovering how wide the doors of my heart could fling open to welcome a new-to-us rescue pooch: Eleven year old Sushi. (And still feel I wasn’t betraying the memory of Bruce.) * Saving heaps of money- oh my- did you do this too? Turning up for a week of hard work, we were both ready to feel the metaphorical sandpaper on our sensitive skin as we were ‘polished’ by our tutor. We ended up together in an exercise and got to know each other more. She had a natural mediumship ability and coupled with a fast mind and an eagerness for the training, you only had to tell her something once and she got it.... But the main thing was - she had a deep love for the Spirit World. Julia was already working as a healer getting wonderful results, so her companionship with the unseen world was definitely there. 04.01.2022 Learn the psychic basics. Then come back and learn them again. Rinse and repeat. You won't be the same person you were when you first did them, so the basics will feel new in places. That's how learning happens. I've followed some of my tutors around for years, doing all their courses, till one very politely said, "You know all this, why are you coming?"... Revising the basics lands a different way each time. A different word here or example there might mean a whole new 'Aha' moment. One mantra we use early and often in my psychic development class is: ... Stay in the room and keep breathing. Some days even that’s hard. Recently my introvert self was challenged in a new writing course. I hadn’t ‘written out loud’ since 21, banging out hopeful typewritten poems to send off to Dolly Magazine. Fast forward to now and we had to read out writing out loud!! An introverts nightmare, but after seeing how safe our class leader made it and how encouraging everyone was, (and that my knees weren’t the only ones knocking under the desk) I had a go. I stayed in the room and took big breaths and didn’t die. That’s the kind of emotional safely I want in my own psychic classes. We might be introverts and lurk till the knees stop shaking and that’s OK with me. Promise if you’re in my class, there will be no breakout rooms till you’ve graduated to the big kids class.
