25.01.2022 It's bright and sunny on the GC with intesting seas to watch outside, from my office window - I believe the recent swell has been very inviting to the keen surfers, although this afternoon it is blowing out from the south; I have attached a nostalgic pic, provided by one of my colleagues, with more to come over the next few weeks and felt this was an ideal one to start off with (we think was a promo done somewhere in Sydney judging by the photographer details on the reverse side) during the early 1960's - enjoy your weekend! :-D
25.01.2022 It's pretty quiet on the streets of Surfers Paradise at the moment but the sun is shining and the surf is rolling in as viewed from my office window. I can say that one area where it is busy and congested is across the main entrance onto the Isle of Capri bridge where the roadworks on a new (and much higher) bridge continue to move forward. As Friday is a GC Public Holiday for (no 2020) Show Day I am posting some more historical pics mid week, this time of the Lone Pine Koala... Sanctuary (forerunner of Australia Zoo) taken in the 1940's - the koala carrying dog used to meet travellers arriving on the Miramar Ferry on the Brisbane River and guide them up to the Sanctuary, which opened in 1927 - it still remains in operation today, no doubt with a change in arrival procedure...one of my work colleagues supplied this snap from her childhood which is gorgeous! Enjoy the forthcoming weekend - maybe you have a birthday or family birthdays scheduled for this month as I have - out to lunch last weekend, 4 of 7 people at the table were all August born Leo's! Best wishes, :-D See more
25.01.2022 This week I have been busy meeting potential Sellers who will hopefully appoint me to sell their respective properties, fingers crossed...I was very humbled last Tuesday, during our weekly sales meeting, to receive the award as shown below. Schoolies starts this weekend so lets hope all goes well for them and they have loads of fun, incident free. Hope you have a great weekend! :-D
25.01.2022 There must be some good soil on the Isle of Capri because I have found a number of healthy, blooming Jacarana trees this week and with a bit of research have discovered that the very first tree in Australia (native to Brazil) was planted in Brisbane over a hundred years ago - they can live up to close to 100 years as well to quote Google. I hope you see some of these gorgeous flowering & towering trees in your area over the next few weeks. Enjoy your weekend - footy season i...s nearly over! (Go the Wallabies) Best wishes, Denise See more
25.01.2022 On top of Burleigh Heads hill for NYE looking towards Surfers Paradise...spectacular!
24.01.2022 Today sees the public re-opening of Seaworld which is great for the beginning of the Qld school holidays - I just hope patrons are patient with the road works still in progress around the Southort Yacht Club area! The moon has been on show this week as you will see from a pic I took off the Isle of Capri bridge one night and a glorious photo from Currumbibn SLSC where I had lunch recently...have a great weekend! best wishes :-D
22.01.2022 It’s that time of year again - probably should be a public holiday in reality although the negative press recently has shed a different light on some of the very undesirable aspects of horse racing...if you are having a little wager today or participating in the work sweep, best of luck to you - I’m heading out to a Melbourne Cup function in Main Beach for something different which should be fun. Enjoy your week!
21.01.2022 The last few days of Autumn are upon us and into Winter we go next week...last weekend my husband & I drove down to Rainbow Bay & D'Bah for lunch and a beach walk where I took these pics on such a beautiful day - as the restrictions look towards easing, the borders may soon be open and then everyone can experience the joy of life on the GC Have a fun weekend, :-D
19.01.2022 Happy Valentine's Day to all my readers - my husband surprised me this morning with flowers and Lindt (even after we had decided that this year the Phillips Airfryer we purchased last week was our gift to each other for Valentine's Day)...we had our office Quarterly Awards this morning at the Royal Pines RACV Resort and the breakfast was superb - I won the first of the Lucky Door prizes (bottle of Moet that will certainly go well with the choccies) so a good morning was had by all followed by free sweet potato ice-cream just across the road as you can see below...the ocean is very rough at the moment and many of the GC beaches are closed however today we have some blue skies after so much rain which is most welcome. My lawn is growing exponentially as I type Wherever you are, enjoy your weekend! :-D
19.01.2022 It's hard to know what to say in the midst of all the uncertainty we are experiencing with this world wide virus...in my professional world, as I have been through so many market changes (I've now been selling in this industry since 1996), you just have to keep on keeping on and do the best possible for all parties through the property buying/selling process; above all, within this scenario, to keep healthy and aware of the hygiene requirements when showing/preparing propert...ies is paramount. Certainly Australia has been greatly tested since late last year with such widespread, damaging fires, let alone the long and enduring drought conditions, followed by flooding in some areas - now, to be faced with this development so totally out of the blue, I feel that the Aussie spirit will prevail - we are always up for the challenge! Off the soap box, I trust you, your family & friends keep safe and well and do your best to enjoy your weekend. :-D
18.01.2022 Hope everyone is doing well physically & mentally throughout this most unexpected and bizarre period in time, world wide - a couple of friends of the family have finally arrived back to Aus.( W.A. in fact) & gone into isolation there, after floating around on the ocean for weeks, being transferred to another ship and missing their trip of a lifetime - well that's just for now, as I'm sure they will all take up the adventure again once things settle down; obviously lots of peo...ple have had to make adjustments and sacrifices to cope with all the changes we are coming to terms with - some very imaginative and creative people have certainly come up with brilliant ideas and ways of entertaining themselves and others which is admirable... hats off to them! Goodness knows where the real estate world is heading for the short term but working from home has its advantages as I've discovered I have a renewed interest in cooking haha Keep safe, well and patient (if only Netflix would stop dropping out!) Best wishes :-D See more
18.01.2022 The end of my first week back for 2020 - it's extremely hot outside and freezing within my office...we just can't seem to get the temperature right indoors! I'm watching lots of TV tennis (very exhausting) and the school term starts again next week so it really is back to normal mode which will be reflected by increased traffic conditions no doubt. Hope you enjoy the Australia Day weekend - it's not until Easter that we have another pubic holiday so make the most of it! :-D
17.01.2022 The Qld Schoolies are set to depart and the southern groups are about to arrive - during my twice weekly walks thru Surfers with friends things looked pretty good & the 2 stages set up on the beach were pumping out the music so hopefully all went well in the main...the weather certainly accommodated them! Still looking for rain here there and everywhere (except Tassie- they seem to have had a good run it seems,so it it’s time to share it around I say) Have a fun weekend! :-D
17.01.2022 Another week closer to Christmas and yesterday on my day off, I joined my buddies on the annual "Mystery Tour" Tennis Christmas Party - we embarked at Hampton Estate Wines up on Mt. Tamborine and enjoyed a wonderful meal, entertainment and hilarious bus trip to an from - I can highly recommend this venue especially if you want a mid week getaway when its more quiet and the accommodation offers greater value for money. Have a lovely weekend! :-D
17.01.2022 Thankfully my eldest son made it back to the GC from Armidale, NSW unscathed - in the very early hours of Saturday morning - where he was working last week,(electrical contractor/solar installer) but it was an epic trip for him detouring and facing road blocks etc - quite scary as well, especially when he hit a kangaroo on a back country road - he stopped to inspect but it had disappeared so we hope it hopped away in tact; these fires affect so many people (catastrophically ...in some cases as we hear reported) along the chain, let alone the flora and fauna and it's so sad...rain would solve so much if only we could will/pray for this to happen! Such a contrast for my middle son who flew in Friday night from Hobart via Sydney for a friend's wedding the following day - his flight was originally cancelled due to high winds but a little later he boarded another plane and arrived to much warmer temperatures - it was 14 degrees when he left Tassie! I took this pic below from a 14th floor Main Beach unit this morning and it has been hazy like this for days - lets hope there is some relief nationally, very soon. Have a great week... :-D
15.01.2022 Staying low for Easter & watching back to back James Bond movies on Foxtel...Hot Cross buns & chocolate eggs are the rage here in our house! Keep well & home entertained Best wishes Denise
14.01.2022 It sure is a hot one today - luckily & thankfully I can feel a sea breeze as soon as I park my car to walk into the office... I have a busy afternoon with a property inspection in Southport followed by a past client meeting, in my office, after hours, so I'm about to leave this air conditioned haven overlooking the ocean, however, only for a while! Hope you have a great weekend... :-D
14.01.2022 Some more rain today and last night for the first week of March - temperatures still high with quite steamy conditions; petrol is much cheaper today which coincided with my empty tank so thumbs up for that lucky good timing on my part; the sand art work on the beachfront esplanade was again excellent this year and is being disassembled as of yesterday; pretty quiet in town so Easter will most likely bring the next wave of tourists to arrive; saw a couple more empty blocks on the Isle of Capri today as a result of older homes being demolished so there is likely to be plenty of building scheduled in the near future; another change of roadworks has freed up the Via Roma entrance into the shops for the time being which is a relief - at the end of the day, lets hope the new bridge is magnificent! Have a great day :-D
12.01.2022 Looking towards Surfers Paradise last weekend - beautiful! With the cooler nights this month I’ve unearthed my favourites below... Back to our Staff meetings this coming week, the beginning of the long haul back to normalcy? Happy Mother’s Day to all my maternal readers Enjoy your weekend ... Best wishes Denise See more
12.01.2022 I've had a few days off work with the sore throat/temperature thing going around but back on deck now! Were you aware of the new Gold Coast (Trial) Ferry Service called HOPO (hop on hop off) operating since December 2019? It’s available to the public and operates between Sea World at Main Beach, Broadwater Parklands at Southport, Marina Mirage at Main Beach, HOTA at Surfers Paradise and Appel Park at Surfers Paradise what a great idea so I hope it becomes a permanent attraction and a form of regular transport for locals - check out the website if you need more details... If you have a chance to view the Annual Sand Safari Arts Festival before it finishes on 1st March on the Esplanade in Surfers (and it's not raining!) put it on your list to see Enjoy the rest of your week! :-D
11.01.2022 Working from home has it's advantges, one being that I can keep an eye on my 2 lemons from a tree I have been nuturing for 3 years - finally I have something worthwhile to see - unfortunatly I have only succeeded in growing two, 2 years ago but these beauties make up for the lack in numbers I suspect...hope they have pleny of juice when they finally enter my kitchen domain - I certainly don't profess to having a green thumb! Cooking is another bonus whilst in isolation so I have made these yummy( low sugar content) ANZAC biscuits for devouring, in part, tomorrow. No doubt we will hear driveway activity at dawn tomorrow in many parts of the country so early to bed tonight...Lest We Forget best wishes, Denise
11.01.2022 Skiing on Nerang River 1960's style!
11.01.2022 Even though I wasn't here this time last year as I was in Europe, the number of kids in Surfers for Schoolies week seems tame compared to previous years, even my other colleagues agree - are they more quiet across the board, better behaved perhaps or are there just not as many kids in town? Hard to know ...at least it's fine weather for them to enjoy all the events scheduled to keep them active and entertained. There sure are a lot of birthdays around this month and on the 21...st and 22nd this week,5 of my friends (incl.one relative) will be celebrating! Just a little rain in Surfers yesterday but some areas close by really felt the affects of hail as big as golf balls; hope we see some more rain soon, where it's needed. Enjoy your week... :-D
10.01.2022 I had a lovely Mother's Day with 2/3 of the family...thoroughly spoilt! Yesterday we had a little rain so that was good - didnt have to water anything - and today we are back to the glorious GC sunny weather; it will be iintresting to see more people around this weekend with the cafe's/restaurants etc able to open to a smaller audience but none the less, it's a start in the right direction...I've been back into the office more regularly this week as we have started our weekly... staff meetings again (keeping in line with the distancing rules of course) and it's good to catch up with everyone again. Stay safe and well whilst enjoying your weekend! Best wishes Denise
10.01.2022 I've saved my post for today on the eve of a very unusual Melbourne Cup (hopefully a year never to be repeated) - even though the crowds won't be there I'm sure there are a lot of functions organised...we're having a gathering in our office board room tomorrow overlooking the beach (could be worse haha)...the horse sweeps have been circulated today and I'm really happy with my lucky dips (that's how I always see them as) Hats and fascinators have been deemed mandatory so I'm... sure there will be some pics taken for our office Facebook page. Hope you choose a winner and enjoy the event! Best wishes, :-D See more
10.01.2022 I hope you did well on Melbourne Cup Day - I had fun at The Veranda in Main Beach and I watched one of my sweep my horses come in 2nd (originally that is, before it was demoted) - luckily the sweep was paid out before we had the news of any changes! It's very hot up here today - when my son arrives from Hobart tonight for a one night stopover en route to a wedding tomorrow (14 degrees there today so the weather report mentioned) he will swelter! Have a great weekend... :-D
08.01.2022 Queensland & Western Australia are the only Aus. States not having a Public Hol this Monday for the Queens birthday so have fun if you fall into that category...we in Qld. have to wait until October! The rugby league season has re-started much to my husbands delight (even though he falls asleep in the middle of any televised tv game) so now I'm watching more Netflix/Foxtel upstairs - it's somewhat depressing watching too much current affairs and overeas news. Still a little s...low in our office with listings and sales but there certainly is activity happening around the GC - once the borders re-open things should improve. Sunny but a little windy during the week - not complaining at all with the blues skies and lovely ocean views from my office window! Enjoy your weekend. Best wishes :-D
07.01.2022 How wonderful is it to see the rain and doesn't the grass green up quickly? All the lawn mowing businesses around will be thrilled to have something to work on once it dries up, I'm sure. As the tennis is now over, my TV viewing is greatly reduced but the rugby has started so happy days. This week I received a very nice Buyer review that you might enjoy perusing...... "Real professional" Denise makes good result both seller and buyer. She negociate very well and make people comfort. She is no push but make better result and willing to help. When we contact her She reply very quick and not missing our questions and make us solve the problems. Really appreciate her about her service and wants to meet her again. Thank you. Jack Bae Have a great weekend! :-D
07.01.2022 It has been so sunny and beautiful for much of this month so a bit of rain is welcome now; last weekend we went to lunch at the Palm Beach Surf Club and I took a pic from there looking south towards Coolangatta, before having a stroll on the sand afterwards (with lots of happy pooches running around close to the Currumbin Beach end) - the Surfers precinct is rather more quiet now that all Aussie states have resumed their school terms which is to be expected given the restrictions currently in place for southerners. Enjoy your weekend wherever you are...keep well and safe! Best wishes Denise
06.01.2022 Beautiful pics taken on the 32nd floor of a building in Surfers Paradise this morning - enjoy your weekend! Best wishes Denise
06.01.2022 Football fever this weekend for so many Aussies and a historical AFL Grand Final event at the Gabba in Brisbane (who would ever have predicted that, especially with 2 Victorian teams competing) - I've got some great books to read instead down on the beach if its not too windy! We've had a little bit of rain this week which has been welcome and Surfers looks a bit busier today, so maybe the apartment bookings have been strong again for the weekend; an interesting fact this wee...k has been the number of jets flying up the coast over the beachfront, mostly in pairs, so we in the office have enjoyed hearing and seeing them, the latter if you're quick enough that is. Enjoy your weekend whatever you have planned! Best wishes, Denise See more
06.01.2022 Today I popped down to the Optus shop in Surfers to have my new iPhone and iPad sorted - the staff there are wonderful, particularly if you can catch them when they don't have a shop full of people, so today was a lucky day for me - it is so easy now to transfer all your contacts and data from an older phone to a new one, which has not been the case in the past...modern technology is magical and amazing. Not such a great hair day below, windy as it has been on the GC, but no matter - it was a happy moment for moi! Enjoy your weekend :-D
06.01.2022 I have just returned from a weeks break in Hobart, Tasmania visiting my middle son and his partner who live in Bellerive - my youngest son with the overseas guest family was also there at the same time and we caught up before they took off on their self driving Tassie adventure. It was such a rest from the summer humidity we've been experiencing here and I was busy every day as you can see by the pics I've attached! Work now beckons... Enjoy your weekend! :-D
05.01.2022 This week has seen an increase of people in and around Surfers Paradise and on the beach (not too many in the water however) Haven't spotted any whales on the horizon whilst I've been in the office looking out to sea, unfortunately. It's a gorgeous day on the GC today with hopefully many more to come this winter. The Aussie rugby union season starts tonight - yipee. Enjoy your weekend and make a plan to visit if you are not already here! Best wishes :-D
05.01.2022 It's a busy weekend for many football codes - me, I'm only interested (or really worried about) the Wallabies scoreline - I hope the All Blacks will be kind! Haven't spotted any of those whales heading south out of my office window, but the ocean has been a bit churned up the last few days so they could have slipped by unnoticed... Keep well and active, enjoy your weekend! Best wishes Denise
05.01.2022 Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays & all the best for the New Year! Enjoy the Festive Season with family & friends... ‘Til 2020 when we meet again Cheers Denise
05.01.2022 The weekend is nearly here and I will be reminising tomorrow over a special family event that occurred 30 years ago - my middle son's birthday; we were due to meet up with him to celebte in Hobart this week but never mind, we will now have to wait until the borders open (and its a bit warmer!) Nature has it's own way at times like these, as you will see by the pics attached that I've just taken on my way to the bank near the Clock Hotel in Surfer's this afternoon...Birds in P...aradise! Enjoy your weekend, best wishes :-D
05.01.2022 20 year anniversary with my Principal John Newlands today...we’ve had a few business name changes during those years but it’s always been a proactive move! Gorgeous flowers dropped off at home for me & a sale this week too so happy days in this time of uncertainty... Enjoy your long weekend & rug up! Cheers Denise
03.01.2022 Week one 2020 fully completed at work and made it through the short week(and cold Airconditioning in the office) Have a great 2 day weekend now all the Public Holidays are over for a few months...Easter hot cross buns are already in the shops! Best wishes :-D
03.01.2022 This week has produed some wonderful weather on the GC and glorious night skies - see attached taken from the Surfers Paradise beachfront last Monday...also some memorabilia from days gone by coming soon. As you are no doubt aware, Qld border restrictions will be implemented overnight and we hope will not be in place for too long. Enjoy your weekend! :-D
01.01.2022 It's a busy time of year - schools have finished, shops are busy, Surfer Paradise is populated with visitors and my son's partners' family from France arrived for 6 weeks vacation... amongst all that I sold an apartment last Friday so a good finish to the week all round - except for the fierce storm that day which I was scarily driving in; a bonus yesterday was a lovely lunch at the very popular Isle of Capri restaurant "Moana" with a local client/friend where we each enjoyed the gorgeous seafood - I do love going there! Have a great week - finish that Christmas shopping and exercise hard before indulging next week...(that's my plan anyway) :-D
01.01.2022 The Queensland school holidays are in progress and we have a long weekend starting tomorrow, which used to coincide with the NRL Grand Final (different story this year of course). Currently the beaches are being very well attended - as seen from my office window - and the apartment/hirise accomodation is also enjoying a resurgance - hopefully we will see some southerners up here in the near future to join in! The pics attached are the final ones for my "old days" collection,... which I hope you enjoy. Have a great weekend! :-D See more
