13.01.2022 The last few months have been interesting... it's been 396 days since we've eaten a Dagwood dog.. (but who's counting). Luckily, here at the Sydney Royal Easter... Show, we don't measure time by minutes, hours or months we measure it by memories #CheesierThanACheeseToastie. While the 2021 Sydney Royal Easter Show may seem many months away, it will be undergoing a change of date and will now run in alignment with the NSW school holiday period (cue parents cheers). The new dates are 1 April to 12th April 2021 (and while we don't have a crystal ball) we are planning to see as many of our exhibitors and supporters as possible. This change, plus others we are planning, will provide the flexibility to implement any social distancing measures that may be in place at that time (great excuse not to go on the slingshot with your Showpal). In the meantime, stay safe & be good to one another (maybe poke someone on Facebook, is that still a thing?) and don't forget to keep sharing your favourite memories with #MyEasterShow See more

06.01.2022 Good evening Deni, What a beautiful sunny day it was today and with the weather expected to reach high thirties by the end of the week, and summer around the co...rner, its a very timely reminder to Slip Slop Slap. We want to encourage people to stay sun safe and also provide you with some information on Melanoma, which we know carries an increased risk with sun exposure and we want to assure people, that a visit to the GP to have your skin checked is really important and the easiest way get your skin checked if you have any concerns. Your GP will be able to ascertain , through examination, whether further tests might be needed. Where can you get your skin checked? General Practitioner (GP) A GP can perform a skin check and examine any lesions of concern. They are familiar with your history, can talk to you about risk factors and family history, and treat some skin cancers. They might also refer you to a dermatologist, if needed. Skin Cancer Clinics There are many skin cancer clinics across Australia. Skin cancer clinics are usually operated by GPs and therefore have the same level of training as a GP, but their focus is on skin cancer. Many clinics offer the latest technology for examining skin spots. Dermatologists For a second opinion, or for people at high risk of melanoma, a referral to see a dermatologist is recommended. Dermatologists are doctors who have completed additional training to specialise in diagnosing and treating skin disease, including skin cancers. To see a dermatologist, you will need a referral from a GP or a skin cancer clinic. Keep in mind that there are often long waiting times to get a booking, and also be sure to ask about the fees and what is covered by Medicare. Doctors use a number of tools and techniques to examine skin thoroughly, beyond what the naked eye can see. Melanomas that are detected and treated early are cured in 90% of cases. So, in addition to self-checking regularly you should have a professional skin check once a year. It is also important to get a professional skin check by a doctor if anything suspicious appears, in addition to having your annual skin check. Follow the links before for further information on causes and prevention of Melanoma, and national skin cancer action week campaign: https://www.cancer.org.au//understanding-melanoma-cancer-b https://www.cancer.org.au//national-skin-cancer-action-week As always, stay safe and be kind.
