22.01.2022 Tomorrow Man - 9th and 10th September 2020 Will be visiting the Great Southern region and WACoA Denmark, Mt Barker Community College and Denmark SHS to speak to our young men. A two-hour experiential workshop ‘Breaking the Man Code’ creates a unique conversation about the secret life of us and our mates on the way to re-writing the rules on what it means to be a man. State of Play... What does it mean to be a bloke today? And what do we want it to look like tomorrow? The tide is changing for men young and old, and the outdated stereotype is leaving some of our mates, dads, sons, uncles, teammates, workmates, and brothers stranded without the tools for a healthy life. Tomorrow Man facilitates workshops for boys and parents in schools, and, men in sporting clubs, workplaces, and communities. We explore how we can look after ourselves, our mates and families are better while carving out our own version of the Aussie man. It’s time we got in a room to have a no holds barred conversation about the state of man; face the stats and create room to break the stereotype. DISRUPT Disrupt an old school male stereotype that has us by the balls, perpetuating a norm of masculinity that is far too narrow and doesn't allow permission for healthy traits that strengthen resilience, keeping more men alive today and tomorrow. BUILD Build emotional muscle. To begin we practice the capacity to talk with gravity, talking about things of weight and depth and often emotional intensity. We believe if more men learn this skill, the stats will change for the better. REINVENT We aim to seek out and embody an attractive, relevant, and modern alternative to an archaic stereotype. A more flexible version of tomorrow's man that resonates and speaks to the mainstream male. Footnote: We have not forgotten our young women; Tomorrow Woman will be visiting the Great Southern region once the Covid19 restrictions have been lifted. She is currently in Victoria. Watch this space for more activities around mental fitness. https://www.tomorrowman.com.au/aboutus

20.01.2022 INNOVATION IN TRAINING AT COLLEGE The WA College of Agriculture-Denmark delivers on its statement Excellence and innovation in agricultural education. Darren Scahill, Vocational Education Training Co-ordinator for the Certificate II and Certificate III in Agriculture, has introduced innovations into the training program at the College.... A new website, developed purely for students to help them to achieve their competencies, was launched earlier this year and is proving its worth as we progress through the school year. This advanced training tool takes students through the skills and knowledge required for each unit of competency step-by-step; and clearly outlines the components of each unit. It provides written and visual media such as video demonstrations, all geared towards student training and skills development. It certainly was a distinct advantage during the COVID19 restrictions, providing on-line training at home. Said, Mr. Scahill. Whether a student is learning to muster and move livestock, plant horticultural crops, drive a tractor or operate basic machinery and equipment they can log into the training App and access training information specific to their course of study. Students will also be able to complete questions that test their knowledge of competencies on-line, something that up until now, they have had to provide in writing, said Principal Steve Swallow, about the new learning initiative. Responses are provided in real-time so a student can easily track how they are performing in any one area. Students studying for the Certificate II or Certificate III in Agriculture are attaining a qualification that provides an entry level occupational outcome in agriculture, putting students from the WA College of Agriculture-Denmark ahead in the employment stakes.
