25.01.2022 Extracts from the Long Tern Financial Plan which is on the agenda of the Council Meeting next Tuesday. https://www.denmark.wa.gov.au//19-nov-19-attach-834-long-t

25.01.2022 Act now if you want to fast-track a pool in Denmark! The community currently has the opportunity to respond to Council’s draft Sport and Rec Master Plan, which recommends starting the planning of an aquatic centre no earlier than 2023/24. While it is fantastic that an aquatic centre is a priority in the plan, we think that it should be moved from the medium-term priorities to the short-term priorities, so that planning can begin sooner and we can lock in commencement of this important project. If you agree, please write to Council before 6 September 2018 stating that you would like to see planning for the aquatic centre moved into the short term priorities of the Master Plan. http://www.denmark.wa.gov.au//draft-shire-of-denmark-sport

23.01.2022 What a fit and happy lady! Think we'd have a few 80's plus swimmers if we had a pool in Denmark

23.01.2022 +=ALBANY POOL NOW HEATED BY WOODCHIPS=+ Albany Leisure and Aquatic Centre’s pool is now heated by burning local woodchips in a biomass boiler. T...he new renewable technique will significantly reduce the centre’s reliance on gas, allowing ALAC to switch off its gas system and reserve it for backup, saving about $50,000 a year. Darryl Outhwaite from WA Biofuels said the boiler will consume about 400-500 tonnes of woodchips a year, an amount that is regrown within about two hours at the region's timber plantations. It’s not only renewable, but the trees planted also provided great landcare benefits in the form of clean air, water and biodiversity. City of Albany councilor Bill Hollingworth said this is part of the process that takes Albany toawrds renewable energy. "The City has to show leadership in putting this idea forward and pushing it, so we can show renewable energy and biomass can be used with success."

21.01.2022 What do supporters of a heated indoor aquatic centre with 8 lane 25m pool, plus hydro/learn to swim pool, think about this idea? One of the advantages of an Ocean Pool is that it doesn’t need to be treated with chlorine; however there are alternatives that could be investigated such as ionization - this web site gives some info on it https://www.bionizer.com.au/ Be great to hear some feedback.

17.01.2022 Ballot papers for our Local Government election will probably hit our mailboxes next week. Don't rely on social media to provide you with the full picture. Call the candidates, verify their statements. This is your opportunity, don't waste it. Not everyone in this world is so lucky.

16.01.2022 #BREAKING! The Department of Education has agreed to match, dollar-for-dollar, the Shire of Jerramungup's fund to replace the Community Swimming Pool resultin...g in a much-needed $2-million-dollar upgrade to the facility. In April I wrote to the Minister for Education to let her know I had been contacted by constituents from Jerramungup who expressed their concerns over the future of the Community Pool, located on the Jerramungup District High School reserve. The Jerramungup pool is a vital community asset that services many schools in the region, as well as the wider community and visiting tourists, with the next closest public pool over 170kms away. #RuralRegeneration attracting people to and keeping people in the regions is such an important issue to me. As such, I applaud the Shire on taking the initiative to seek alternative solutions and also the State Government for recognising this need to support our regional and rural communities. 12.01.2022 If you're keen to get an aquatic centre in Denmark, it would be fantastic if you could write a quick letter to your Councillors urging them to include the aquatic centre in the Shire's corporate plan. The more voices they hear, the more powerful the message! DACCI has already made a comprehensive submission for a pool to be included ... your support would be greatly appreciated.

11.01.2022 Town Ward: Important news regarding our current local government elections. I spoke to Richard Dembowski on the weekend and he informed me that he was withdrawn his nomination. Give Richard a call to confirm. There are only two candidates in Town Ward.
