21.01.2022 Keeping good oral hygiene habits is important to protect your teeth from decay . . Certain bacteria that live on the surface of teeth consume the sugar we eat and turn it into acid. The acid sits on the surface of the teeth and pulls minerals out from the tooths surface causing it to weaken. This process happens every time we eat and drink. If these acids occur repeatedly and there is not enough protection provided to the teeth, this can result in tooth decay . . So,... remember to: 1. Brush with a fluoride toothpaste twice a day. 2. Clean between your teeth with floss or interdental brushes daily. 3. See a dentist regularly to maintain good oral health. 4. Eat a well-balanced diet and limit your added sugar consumption. 13.01.2022 Dental Health week is here! . The Australian Dental Association is focusing this years campaign on the harm sugar does to oral health and encouraging all Australians to get sugar savvy. Throughout the week we will give you some tips to help navigate food labels finding the hidden sugars, recommended consumption levels and information on how sugar damages teeth. . The 3 main sugar messages for the week are:... 1. Consume no more than 6 teaspoons (24g) of free sugar per day, as recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO). 2. Choose foods with less than 10g of sugar per 100g. 3. Look out for hidden sugars when purchasing foods and drinks (see our last post). See more

Given the recent pandemic, something that has been likened to a global war, I think this is a poignant reminder of what our ancestors went through for us. They were actually on the war fronts fighting for our country.
