14.01.2022 This is one of my favourite oral health books. We read this book to the little ones when we visit childcare centres. 13.01.2022 Lets talk about..... "Double teeth" As dental professionals we this often. The adult tooth erupts and the baby tooth is yet to wiggle out. ... Sometimes we find children are nervous or uncomfortable to wiggle out teeth, sometimes they see blood and avoid it all together. This case is something we would want to deal with as soon as possible, to help with correcting the position of the adult tooth during it eruption phase. Encourage your child to wiggle the baby tooth as much as possible, try giving them a helping hand. If that doesn't wiggle the tooth out, you would need to see a dental professional to help it out. My top tips are: Consider the effect of words when talking about dental procedures with children. Avoid terminology like "they are going to pull your tooth out" "if you dont do XYZ, you're going to get a needle". Need some dental advice? Send us a DM, we will be happy to help!

07.01.2022 Sending love to Victoria during these very difficult times. On a couple of our earlier posts, we shared our top tips for mask use. Since then NSW has recommended mask use in places where it is difficult to social distance including the grocery store. ... Remember to sanitize before and after mask use Dispose of your mask correctly. Please find a bin to dispose of your mask. The world has enough rubbish in it. For most surgical masks, the white coloured part of the mask should be placed on your face, and the colour part of the mask on the outside. The wire part of the mask sits on your nose, pinch or mould the wire around the bridge of your nose. I wear a mask every day at work, but wearing one to the shops has felt so weird. Have you been wearing a mask lately?

07.01.2022 We recommend for parents or guardians to help young children brush their teeth until the age of 7. Your child may be very independent and insist on brushing their own teeth, but it is always important to have the parent or guardian brush again, ensuring all teeth surfaces are cleaned well. Our top tips to get your little one to allow you to brush for them are as follows:... Make it routine, start brushing from the time their first tooth erupts If your little one insists on brushing themselves, let them. Theyll have a turn, then youll have a turn. Allow them to try to brush your teeth. Make it fun! This can get messy but definitely works for the really independent children. Make sure NO toothpaste is ingested. If your little one struggles spitting, practice with water first, encourage them to say the word "TWO" several times. (Again, make it fun and messy!) 02.01.2022 As we see the number of people wearing masks increase, we thought it was important to share our top tips with surgical mask use. Wash your hands before putting your mask on, and after you take it off. Place your mask over your nose and mouth. Do not touch your mask once on. ... If your mask becomes wet or visibly soiled, it is no longer effective, replace with a new mask. When removing your mask, try to avoid touching other parts of your face and ensure you wash your hands after. WASH your hands. Think about all the things you touch in a day, door handles, cards, EFTPOS machine, ATM buttons handrails.. The list goes on and on. There is bacteria on everything we touch. WASH your hands. Its an important one, so Ill repeat it.. Wash your hands before cooking, before eating, after you get home, etc etc. Avoid touching your face and putting your fingers in your mouth. VIC has made mask use mandatory in public areas. Do you think it should be compulsory to wear masks in NSW where you cant social distance?
