22.01.2022 How safe are amalgam fillings and should I replace them? It is very likely that you asked yourself this question and wondering if it's worth the effort and cost. For starters, dental amalgams are made from an alloy of silver, tin, copper and zinc, combined with 50% mercury. Based on different autopsy studies, it is evident that mercury from fillings can bioaccumulate in the brain, kidneys, liver and heart and cause a variety of health symptoms. ... In my latest video, I explain in more detail the potential risk of mercury fillings and possible solutions. These are the topics Ill cover in the video: * Why amalgam fillings should concern you 0:22 * Why mercury in the amalgam can leach out into your body 0:35 * Which regions of the body can be affected 0:55 * Why some people react very sensitive to mercury exposure 1:02 * Why we are using the S.M.A.R.T. protocol to protect the patient, staff and environment 1:20 * Why amalgam fillings turn into toxic waste after being removed 1:45 * Why ceramics, like Zirconia ceramic, or a bio-ceramic are the prefect solution 2:07 * What are the negative effects of different metals in the mouth 2:40 * What is causing a metallic taste in your mouth 3:00 * Main reasons why we are a 100% metal-free practice 3:13 Click below to access this important video. 20.01.2022 Lets face it, as long theres no obvious pain or oral health problem, most people dont think much about their jaw alignment. However, jaw misalignment is more common than most people realise. For starters, your teeth and jaw are working as a unit. The front teeth are used for cutting food and canines for tearing food. The function of premolars is to create the transition between the tearing function of the canines and the grinding function of the molars. The molars, which a...re the large, flat teeth at the back of your mouth, are used primarily to grind food during chewing. If the jaw is properly aligned, the whole system works very well. However, in case of any misalignment of your jaw, your teeth are exposed to uneven wear and stress and with time chewing will get more difficult and even painful. How do you know if you have a potential jaw misalignment? Here are some signs to look for: -accidental biting of your tongue or cheek -trouble chewing due to pain or stiff jaw -excessive mouth breathing, even when the nose is clear -trouble with speech because of pain or stiffness of the jaw -ongoing headaches or facial pain -uneven tooth wear If you have at least one of these issues, its best to book with us as soon as possible in order to deal with this problem as early as possible.

19.01.2022 At Dental Wellness, we use Ozone as an effective and non-destructive method of treating dental decay and gum disease without invasive or destructive treatment. Ozonated oils, liquids and pure Ozone gas are applied in a controlled environment to address tooth decay, gum disease and infections where bacterial, viral or fungal load are present. Ozone enhances the bodys immune system and aids in accelerated healing. The curative and disinfecting effect of Ozone gas is an astonis...hing phenomenon, a completely naturally occurring product that out performs most if not all disinfectants and antiseptics. The undisputed disinfection power of ozone over other antiseptics makes the use of ozone in dentistry a very good alternative. OZONE What is it? Ozone (O3) is a naturally occurring gas with a characteristic smell that is present in small amounts in atmospheric air. Ozone molecules are composed of three oxygen atoms and is normally abundantly present in the upper layer of atmosphere, by surrounding the earth, it protects living organisms from ultra-violet (U.V.) rays. Being denser and therefore heavier than air, it falls downward toward the earth cleaning the air as it goes by combining with any pollutant it comes in contact with. OZONE How does it work? Pathogens such as bacteria, viruses and fungi are composed of carbohydrate, protein, RNA and DNA surrounded by a cell wall or cytoplasmic membrane that contains little to no antioxidants. This feature makes these organisms vulnerable to oxidants and a powerful oxidant such as ozone will destroy the cell membrane and oxidise all essential cellular components of these pathogens in seconds resulting in a disinfecting or sterilizing effect. One molecule of ozone is equal to between 3,000 to 10,000 molecules of chlorine and it kills pathogenic organisms 3,500 times faster. Studies have also revealed that it only takes 10 sec to kill 99% of bacteria, fungi and viruses. Visit Dental Wellness to naturally treat your dental problems. Keep smiling a healthy smile, The Dental Wellness Team
19.01.2022 Dental implants have been successfully replacing missing teeth for over 45 years using titanium. However, titanium is metal and as such releases metal ions that can create hypersensitivity reactions, biocompatibility issues and has an unaesthetic grey hue. The more natural alternative is ceramic implants with superior biological, aesthetics, mechanical and optical properties. If you are considering having an implant to replace a missing or damaged tooth you might like to cons...ider Zirconia as an option. With our 3D Cone Beam CT Technology combined with digital planning programs, the process of placing of Z-Systems Zirconia Implants is fast, accurate and involves minimal surgery.

The long-term effects of poor sleep quality have been associated with a wide range of symptoms. At this point you may ask yourself, what does this have to do with dentistry? 08.01.2022 Here at Dental Wellness we check the pH of your saliva at each visit. This is because there is a smear layer of saliva resting on the tooth surface and under the gum. This biofilm, at rest and throughout the day, should be protecting the tooth and gums from acidic and bacterial attack. Hydration plays a large role in how your saliva is and thus how protective it is . If this is too acidic then tooth enamel can start to erode at a pH below 5.5. ... Think differently about your hydration and visit the Dental Wellness team to learn more on how to better your pH and oral health practices . Keep Smiling :)
08.01.2022 In my newest Vlog, I am talking about a possible link between Dementia and Dental Health. According to a report at the International Society of Vascular Behavioural and Cognitive Disorders, poor dental health increased the likelihood of dementia by 30 to 40% over a 32-year period. How can this be?, you may ask? Through lack of flossing, bacterial plaque builds up in and around the gums which leads to inflammation. Over a longer period of time, inflammation can affect many o...ther vital systems of the body causing premature aging and numerous symptoms. Even though theres more research required to understand fully the connection between dementia and dental health, dont give bacterial plaque a chance by daily flossing and other preventative measures. 03.01.2022 Most people are aware of acute inflammation, which is a normal reaction of the body to an injury to promote healing. For example, if you have a wound, you may find that the area is getting red, swollen, hot and painful. This kind of inflammation typically heals after a few days. Then there is the less obvious chronic inflammation, which is long-lasting and insidious. Chronic inflammation starts often as an underlying condition and doesnt stop. It can stay for a long time at... a low level undetected in the body. In many cases, people dont know that they suffer from chronic inflammation until it is literarily too late. In my latest video, Ill explain the most common causes of inflammation in the mouth, how to detect it with modern non-invasive technology. Youll find out why undetected and untreated inflammation can lead to serious health problems. See more
