17.01.2022 What is a Crossbite? Cross bite is when upper teeth fit inside of the lower teeth. It is more than a cosmetic problem. Crossbite can have severe consequences such as loose teeth , receding gums, excessive wear of tooth enamel last but not least development of Jaw problems and even asymmetrical growth of face and jaw. So if you notice your child with a cross bite or any other bite problems. You should get it checked out by a dentist. How soon should a cross be treated? SOONER ...THE BETTER! What Causes Crossbite? They are many factors that can contribute to crossbites. But the 2 main ones are 1) Habits like thumb sucking or dummy use 2) Airway issues Treatment for crossbite. Treatments for crossbite are patient specific, but most case can be treated with expanders. Crossbite are much easier to treat in children than in adults. If have questions regrading Cross bite comment below and i will try to answer them. Dr. Dave Xavier

11.01.2022 A MUST WATCH FOR ALL PARENTS!!! Please watch and share this video by Dr.David McIntosh MBBS FRACS PhD. Talking about Tonsils in children. A fantastic, easy to understand video. If you are concerned about you child's tonsils or snoring, come in for a consultation and we will be able to refer you to an ENT who specialises in the area. Including Dr. David McIntosh. Who practices in Maroochydore Qld/North Lakes (Brisbane) A child snoring is not amusing. It is might be a indicator to a breathing problem, which can have major implications.

07.01.2022 We have received information that the local schools have been approached by Mobile Dental Vans. These Mobile Dental Vans are not a government initiative and are a private company. The services are then bulk billed through your medicare if you are eligible. Which takes away from your $1000. It is NOT FREE as some of them advertise The things you need be aware of . 1) If they perform a check up, clean, Fluoride and 1 fissure seal it will come up to $223 . 75-90% will not need ...clean and fluoride and If this is done 6 monthly there will be nothing left of the $1000. when a child does require treatment the family will need to pay for it. 2) The person that is treating your child may be a therapist/hygienist not a dentist. They are limited by what they can do in the Dental Van. So they still have to refer you back to a dentist. Who then has to do another check up, to access the problem. ( which means you have had 2 check ups for the same problem) 3) When a child gets a check up from a dentist they look at more than just teeth. For example they do airway assessment and keep an eye on orthodontics problems which need 6 monthly follow ups and much more. 4) When you go to a local dentist in town there is continuation of care. All surgeries in town accept CDBS and are bulk billed on the day. CDBS is a fantastic system that has helped children, who otherwise would have never had an option of seeing a dentist. It is a system that the dental professionals have fought the government for. PLEASE ENSURE YOUR CHILD GETS THE MOST OUT OF CDBS.
