21.01.2022 From my Daily Calm practice today, this quote in full below. What a difference it can make when "We" remember to do this. This was and is exactly what I needed today and going forward. Suffering happens when we expect life to be something more and different than what it is in the present moment. When we let go of all expectations, there is peace. Kim Eng

19.01.2022 Since my oral cancer diagnosis over 3 years ago & subsequent surgeries I continue learning more, much more in fact, about eating for enjoyment & nourishment. My... reconstructed mouth inside is different to my former mouth & it has less space inside & fewer areas to chew & bite with significant effect. All part of my learning "how to eat" now has given me benefits of staying relatively stable weight wise ( a problem for me, if I can be frank, for decades!) & enjoying smaller amounts of food which I can actually recognise as satisfying my appetite for both sensory enjoyment & keeping me well nutritionally. The author quoted here has a great book & CD which I have & explained to me, for the first time in my life, what eating & the senses is about . I knew (still happens but less) that I often had mouth hunger but not stomach hunger for example. Jan Chozen Boys MD Mindful Eating. Shambala Press But if you want to know more about the issue for me as well that was/is mindLESS eating.. this book says it all. An eye opener! It's not just us.. it's what food manufacturers can do to see we consume much more than we "need" Brian Wansink PhD Mindless Eating. Hay House And last but never least..... Dr Judson Brewer The Craving Mind Yale taught me that cravings (for food) are like feelings... that if not much attention is given to them.. letting them come, they go of their own accord. Such an eye opener for me.

19.01.2022 My teacher friend and now Head and Neck cancer in our mouths friend too...Tara! Great way to spread the news of the new ways in which our surgeries can be improved by more work done onsite via our head and neck Professor Jonathan Clark at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
