14.01.2022 I've been reflecting on the week just gone & I can't help but think how grateful I am to have been given opportunity to increase my knowledge in Mental Health First Aid! However this opportunity to upskill has given me so much more than just knowledge....it gave me the opportunity to make genuine CONNECTIONS with other trainers from all around the Australia! I connected or reconnected with....people I knew....people I'd never met before....and even family!... Connecting with people is something I enjoy doing & is one of the best aspects of the job! It also reminds me of something Brian Grazer once said.... "Face 2 Face is the wifi to human connection"! 12.01.2022 Canberra bound! This time last year I was sat in Brisbane Airport waiting for a flight to Nhulunbuy in the Northern Territory - off to deliver my first lot of training working for myself as DeonBird Training! Exactly 12 months on & I'm at the airport again this time I'm off to Canberra! This time I will be the participant as I'm Upskilling to the Youth Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander MHFA course. This will allow me to deliver training to individuals & services who engage... with our Indigenous youth. As I reflect of the year that was....a year that has seen a lot of things change since March 2020 due to Covid - such as mandatory masks in airports, quarantine, check in at restaurants/events & physical distancing! It's not lost on me how fortunate I've been! So I want acknowledge all those who have done it tough throughout 2020 & remind you that the resilience you have all shown during this difficult time will only make you stronger!
