25.01.2022 Upsetting to see works completed being vandalised! Having to maintain existing infrastructure is proving more costly and hence holding council back from implementing the newly requested...

24.01.2022 This week I inspected progress on the laying of new footpaths on Esther & Roberta Street's, Greystanes. This also forms a part of the broader package of works for the Greystanes area with footpath repairs to be carried out in more streets in the next three months. I'm committed to continuing these improvements and look forward to the continued dialogue with our local community in order to bring forward urgent works.... This is what Council is here for. I'm pleased that we can provide these basic services for our local community. If you have any questions or concerns I can help you with, please feel free to call me on 0425 348 000.

21.01.2022 TEMPORARY COVID 19 TESTING STATION I just received the below advice: Dr Steve Corbett, from NSW health, has advised that they are not progressing at this time with the pop-up clinic at Daniel Street, Greystanes. They believe the clinic at Burnett Street (Merrylands Oval) will cater for the increased demand; he did advise that the Dept would like to keep this location as a back-up if the need arise.... Regards

21.01.2022 Showing Solidarity with ARMENIA As a result of the unprovoked Military Forces of Azerbaijan and the support of President Erdogan of Turkey, brutal Attacks on the Republic of Artsakh continue in an attempt to wipe out the Armenian people. I call on the Australian Government to take a stand in supporting the existence of the Republic of Artsakh and the Armenian people and condemn the actions of Azerbaijan and Turkey!

20.01.2022 Continuing works in the Greystanes Ward, today we are at the bridge overpass on Byron Rd in Guildford where we have had a new type 1 safety fence installed to allow pedestrians to safely cross this portion of road. Should you wish to bring an issue to my attention, please contact me....

17.01.2022 Continuing works in the Greystanes Ward.... Rejuvenating neglected areas. Over the past 10 to 15 years, areas have been neglected and slowly, by identifying these areas, I'm working through the identification and restoration of these areas with improvements along the way. Please feel free to contact me regarding council matters and I'll only be to happy to try and assist.

16.01.2022 Mayor Steve Christou, Cumberland City Council is joined by Deputy Mayor Eddy Sarkis to address speeding on Gozo Road in Greystanes.

16.01.2022 Continuing infrastructure works in Greystanes.... today the team are finishing off works requested by a number local residents. The pathway between Kippax St an...d Oldfield St in the Kippax St Park was in a state of un-repair. Council had this taken out and placed a new walk way 1.3m wide as opposed to the older style which was only 1m wide. We also had the dead trees/wood removed, and a clean up of the playground. Should you wish to bring an issue to my attention, please contact me. See more

15.01.2022 Continuing works in the Greystanes Ward.... Put simply, Council must concentrate on getting the basics right, from installing signs to levelling concrete. Giving confidence to our residents by putting them 1st

13.01.2022 Today I visited the trees that were planted at Kippax St in Greystanes which we planted by the International Order of Rainbows for Girls and DeMolay Australia. They were planted on January 4, 2020 and are all doing well. My daughter, pictured with the tree she planted was excited to see the progress also.

12.01.2022 TEMPORARY COVID 19 TESTING STATION As today there has been a Covid 19 positive test result in Greystanes, the State Health Authority has just notified that Virgil St Greystanes, adjacent to Daniel St Park, will be used for testing. I don't have specific details as yet. It's proposed for Mon, Tue and Wed at this point in time. Keep well, keep safe and please use the appropriate masks and precautions needed during this time.

10.01.2022 Resurfacing of Merrylands Rd between Kippax St and Greystanes Rd. Keeping our promise of delivering for our local community by going back to basics and completing much needed infrastructure work.

10.01.2022 I was contacted by a concerned resident today and I'm happy to say that the resident was happy with the works being completed in a quick, efficient time. NBN not repairing the concrete the way they should, the footpath became a hazard. Again, by receiving feedback from our local community, I'm able to assist in making Greystanes a more pleasing place to live. Thank you again for bringing issues to my attention.

09.01.2022 Wreaths have been laid across Cumberland to commemorate Anzac Day. I visited Civic Park Memorial and the Greystanes Sports Ground Memorials this morning and laid wreaths at both locations. I'd like to thank Mayor Steve Christou, Clr Paul Garrard and Clr Joe Rahme who all laid wreaths at various locations within Cumberland on this day. Today we remember those troops who fought and served our nation, the tens of thousands who paid the supreme sacrifice in World War I and subseq...uent wars. We remember our troops, and not only those who paid the supreme sacrifice for our Australian cause, but also those who are currently serving. These Australians paved the way, for the freedoms and values we cherish today. We will continue to honour their courage and sacrifice. "We will remember them."

In addition to the above, Lance Cr and Kookaburra St will both have a complete re-seal making these streets almost brand new. 04.01.2022 Thanks to everyone who participated in the Clean Up Australia Day events in and around Cumberland City Council today. Given the huge impact that rubbish has on our environment, I’m very proud that we can come together and ensure the natural beauty of our area. Over 30 years, more than 17.7 million Clean Up volunteers have donated more than 35 million hours across Australia. Together they have removed the equivalent of 365,000 ute-loads of rubbish.... A special thanks goes to the Canal Reserve Action Group, International Order of Rainbow for Girls, Order of DeMolay Australia, Phoenix Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, Freemasons NSW, Conservation Volunteers and the Holroyd Uniting Church in Guildford for your participation and contribution in keeping our City clean.

03.01.2022 As promised, speed cushions being installed on Warin Ave Pemulwuy. Going back to basics and delivering on infrastructure needed. Should you have any council matters you would like to discuss, please feel free to contact me.
