25.01.2022 Another home up to scratch with the recent changes to the Queensland smoke alarm legislation

25.01.2022 Kitchen and LED downlight upgrade complete

24.01.2022 Replaced x32 50w Halogen downlights with M-Elec's MR10 10w LED downlights.....what a difference!

24.01.2022 It'll be difficult to convert back to a standard ceiling fan once you have a HVLS ceiling fan installed. Stepping up to maximum airflow with a Brilliant Hercules ;)

23.01.2022 Another big renovation completed. Once again, I forgot to take ‘before’ shots.... Complete new kitchen, laundry, bathroom, ensuite, and a carport and bedroom extension.

22.01.2022 This is what happens when there is a shortage of toilet paper in town. Whatever you may find, whatever you may use, stop and think, will I regret this wipe? A sewer blockage that took 6 hours to remove wet wipes

20.01.2022 Water had found its way into the back of this power point. No roof leaks and the block work was dry as bone. Solving mysteries on a Sunday call out

19.01.2022 When the landscaper ensures the client, that the conduit was laid and buried correctly. Although some tasks may seem simple, its best to stick to what you’re trained for.

19.01.2022 A recent bathroom renovation, featuring backlit vanity mirrors and a heated towel rail. I really had to work the angles on these photos, as I beat the plumber and painter

18.01.2022 Brilliant Hercules 2140mm 84" with 900mm drop rods.

17.01.2022 Relocated/replaced 7x ceiling fans and 20x downlights, and supplied new circuits for 2x split systems. What a perfect week it was for ceiling space runs

17.01.2022 Next time you test your safety switches (which, of course, you’re doing at least every three months, right??) have a walk around your house and see what’s still... powered these are circuits that aren’t protected by a safety switch and could put you and your family at risk of electric shock. Consider having safety switches installed on all circuits in your home, including power points, lights, air conditioning, oven, hot water and pool equipment circuits. http://ow.ly/yjSv50jSI9B

14.01.2022 Nice feature wall . Deta power outlets resisting protective conductors....classic DIY workmanship. I had the pleasure of inspecting a vacated warehouse, which fell victim to illegal and dangerous electrical work.

14.01.2022 Wishing everyone a safe and happy Easter

13.01.2022 The Kennedy’s 20-year-old son Dale, a third-year apprentice electrician, was installing data cables in a ceiling space when he was electrocuted. This week, we r...eleased a new film, I Love You Dad Dale Kennedy’s story. Dan and Debbie Kennedy have joined our Safety Advocate program ow.ly/qlED50thDal See more

12.01.2022 It has been a number of years since I've done a new build. Rough in completed on an off grid property in Yarrabah.

10.01.2022 The new edition of the Wiring Rules introduced additional requirements for final sub-circuit wiring for certain electrical equipment, including requirements for... safety switch protection and isolating switches. Replacing an item of electrical equipment (such as a stove or hot water system) under a like for like replacement where no alterations are made to existing installation wiring does not require the final sub-circuit supplying the equipment to be upgraded to the new requirements. However, any alteration to the final sub-circuit wiring, for example extending wiring to allow for a relocation, will require full compliance with the new requirements, including for safety switch protection and isolating switches. Like for like replacement only includes the replacement of electrical equipment where the current rating of the new item does not exceed the current rating of the circuit protection device and no alterations are needed to the installation wiring to effect the changeover.

09.01.2022 Out with the old, in with the new.

08.01.2022 It’s just three wires, how hard could it be?. DIY electrical jobs are some of the most dangerous and frequent incidents that we investigate. Fines, prosecutio...ns and voiding your insurance are the least of your worries, with electrocution and fires being a real possibility when you do your own electrical work. Always get a licensed electrical contractor to do any electrical work. Never DIY. See more

08.01.2022 Can you spot what’s wrong here? No, not the snake, the RCD wiring. It has been a wild start to the year for fault finding with my buddy Monty Python.

08.01.2022 A few AC’s completed over the last couple of weeks. One replacement and two new installs

08.01.2022 A classic example of wiring under the influence. A gutted bathroom reveals a birds nest commonly found in the far north. An unreal encounter.....even old mate at Bunnings knows the ‘uncoil ya extension lead before ya use it’ trick .

07.01.2022 Here’s a consequence of DIY electrical work. As a result, the protective device for the circuit failed to operate, leaving the main isolator for the unit to handle the job. Melted cable insulation within the conduits proved challenging to rewire this circuit! Thankfully, nobody was harmed.

07.01.2022 A few snaps from a small office renovation, including a complete new data system.

06.01.2022 When I advise you to avoid wooden blade ceiling fans, I mean it...

04.01.2022 I recently completed an office renovation installing data and power. For the record, I did not install the lighting cabling . A bit of catenary wire can make all the difference!

02.01.2022 An unusual upgrade for signage lighting, but it did the job! Steering away from plastic fluorescent type LED bulbs, this plug in method with the use of LED Troffers offers simplicity in maintenance. An idea I’ve had in mind for a while now, which was finally put to the test. I’m quite happy with the results

02.01.2022 A new off grid home completed in Yarrabah.

02.01.2022 Earth rod express

01.01.2022 An electrical safety recall has been issued for the Target TARHB40S Stick Blender, sold at Target, Target Country and online between January 2014 and December 2...018. The product may overheat during use, causing the plastic enclosure to melt and exposing live parts. ACCC recall notice: http://ow.ly/SbaC50mn5f3 See more
