21.01.2022 Some even more disturbing aspects in the case of those two men extradited from Victoria to face charges in Sydney over the alleged sexual assault of a 10-month-old baby. The men, both 50, cannot be named because one is the little girl’s father. Identifying him would identify her. Yesterday, child welfare officers turned up at the mother’s home in a country town in NSW and took the baby, now two years old, into protective custody on the grounds that she was ‘at immediate risk... of serious harm’. The mother, whom I have spoken to at length today, is understandably distraught because the two men accused of molesting her daughter are currently both locked up in Bathurst Jail. No immediate risk. The child has been taken to Sydney for medical examination a year after the alleged offences. My questions: Why wasn’t her parent taken with her? A baby woke up this morning without her mother. Police had been investigating this case for months. Nobody thought back then the child was at ‘immediate risk’ and should be removed. The mother faces no charges and reportedly is not under suspicion. See more

06.01.2022 Daniel's Law closer to reality after Derryn Hinch elected to Senate, Bruce Morcombe says By Jo Skinner The election of Derryn Hinch to the Senate could lead to a fresh push for a national public register of sex offenders, Queensland child safety ambassador Bruce Morcombe says.... Bruce and Denise Morcombe are continuing to advocate for the introduction of a public register under what has been dubbed Daniel's Law. Their son Daniel was abducted and murdered in 2003 by child sex offender Brett Peter Cowan. Mr Morcombe said Melbourne senator-elect Derryn Hinch has promised to lobby for the national register when he takes his seat in Federal Parliament. http://ab.co/29s28LR See more
05.01.2022 Tania Maxwell MP Member for Northern Victoria | Derryn Hinch's Justice Party. Tania made a speech in Parliament today, standing up for Victims of Crime. "In the end, in Derryn Hinch’s Justice Party, we have taken our cue from the views and voices of those victims and relatives of victims. It has been an overwhelming, and near-universal, lead from them that we should oppose the Bill."
