20.01.2022 It is heartbreaking to see the widespread devastation the fires have caused across Australia. For farmers who have already been struggling of late with drought ...to lose all their feed for their remaining livestock is hard to imagine. The Burrumbuttock Hay Runners have been so awesome supporting our farmers across the country whilst they battle this seemingly never-ending drought. With the bushfires leaving so many more livestock now without food, we feel that some extra support of this wonderful cause is the least we can do. The NSWYDA in conjunction with Auctions Plus and The Working Stock Dog Magazine have decided to host a charity auction, with all proceeds going to the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners. For this to be a success and give some much needed assistance to those affected, we need the help of our members and followers. If you’d be interested in donating an item to go into the auction please contact us - just pm our Facebook page or contact the secretary ([email protected]). Ideas of things that could be donated can include but not limited to: service fees dog training lesson dog accessories artwork working pups or dogs livestock related items Don’t worry though if you aren’t able to donate. Help us instead by sharing this post with your mates, telling those not on facebook what we’re doing and by bidding on the awesome donations up for auction. The auction will be starting on the 17th and finishing on the 19th. We will be unable to accept any donations after 12pm on the 15th. Thank you to everyone who has already kindly donated.

04.01.2022 You may have noticed from our stories & posts that raising money for the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners group, founded by Brendan ‘Bumpa’ Farrell in 2014 after he heard about a farmer in Bourke struggling in the drought, has been our focus & passion so far for 2020. These amazing truck drivers donate their time, trucks & equipment to get donated hay to drought-affected farmers in #Australia. (We can’t imagine how much hay must be needed & for how long it will be needed for)! Every... single person involved knows the hay they bring will only provide temporary relief, but it’s about showing fellow #Australians that someone cares & knows that #AussieFarmers are critical to our future. This is about mates helping mates in a time of need/financial strain/keeping farmers afloat as they battle mental health issues. Much of the recently donated & transported hay was marked for the 15th Hay Run (yes, 15th!) to Armidale on #AustraliaDay... & then the bushfire disaster grew & grew as did the number of starving stock. Earlier this month the #hayrunners diverted much of that hay to Sandy Creek & Corryong. 54 trucks. 54! The convoy was split for safety reasons given the hazardous conditions. The hope this gave those farmers was invaluable as they arrived surrounded by thick, heavy smoke. Everyone involved is a volunteer; there is no govt funding, no subsidies. There is, however, a lot of mateship, Aussie spirit & hard, hard yakka. You can watch Bumpa’s videos on Facebook; read the blessings & thanks in the comments; & see the photos showing the plight facing so many of our farmers faced with drought &/or bushfires. We have posted & shared many ways in which people can help if they can spare a dollar or two. Farmers are generously donating the hay from all over Australia . To move this hay, the trucks need to be fuelled. For every ~$1000 dollars raised the @burrumbuttockhayrunners can put another truck on for the Armidale Hay Run this Australia Day. Every donation is #keepingthedreamalive, the motto of the Burrumbuttock Hay Runners. . Another way we are helping is by pledging $10 per every bottle of @parrotdistillingco gin sold @derussiehotels to this incredibly noble group. @ Australia
